Hello, friends, foodies, and lovers of good food.
Ricardo and I were traveling over a month ago. One Friday night in Mérida, we went out looking for somewhere to have dinner. To be honest, we didn’t want to walk too far, and there were two options nearby that didn’t require us to go very far: there was a pizzeria across the street and a fast-food place right next to the hotel.
We decided to eat at the Fast Food Zone, since we had just had pizza at Timotes the day before and wanted a change of pace. This place had a large, extensive menu displayed on its walls, featuring hot dogs, shawarmas, hamburgers, pepitos, salchipapas, and chicken baskets, as well as more affordable combo options of the aforementioned items.
The Fast Food Zone had a pleasant atmosphere. I noticed that on one of the walls, they had a touring motorcycle with a rechargeable lamp attached to the key chain as a reminder that the power could go out at any moment. In this spot, you could see the cook preparing the food, and one thing I liked was that there were almost no other diners there. that day, as I usually do, I was very hungry, so the wait time was important to me.
It didn’t take us long to decide what to eat since we knew more or less what we wanted. We ordered two burgers: one crispy chicken burger and another with grilled chicken breast, served with vegetables and the traditional sauces—mayonnaise, mustard, and tomato—both accompanied by french fries and a glass of soda.
Our burgers arrived in 15 minutes, just as quickly as we expected. They were medium-sized; mine was the chicken patty burger, and it tasted like a homemade burger. I really liked that the vegetables were fresh and the bun was fluffy and soft. The fries came with a little ketchup on top—they were tasty but not as crispy as I’d hoped.
We enjoyed our delicious dinner; even though it was just burgers for the two of us, it was a perfect meal.
