"Food Brings People Together" — I have heard this line before, and I also believe it.

Sharing a meal with your friends and family gives your relationships much more meaning. You can catch up with other people's experiences and memories to keep with good food.
This is what I always feel when I visit Sugbo Mercado in IT Park, one of my favorite food markets in Cebu. As much as it is the most convenient branch for me to go to, it is also the busiest, and the food choices are superb.
This visit I recently had is a little special since it was my first one after the typhoon that hit the city. Last December, Sugbo Mercado was swiped away. Footage of it looks very sad, as the liveliest place in the area got crumbled up in just one night.
A lot was affected, and while people and the affected places are slowly getting back on track, I still feel very proud that for only a month or less, Sugbo Mercado was back like nothing happened.
I was very excited when they announced that it was open again. In my case, I was in my hometown at the time, so I was not able to visit right away.
A few days after coming back here to Cebu City, with
and
invited me for some coffee dates, and afterward, we decided to get some food to take home. I was even saying, "Are you sure they’re really back in full operation now?" Then yes, I got my answer.
To my surprise, the place looked exactly the same as it did before the typhoon. I was expecting to see some changes since they rebuilt it, but no, it looks like there was no typhoon that hit it down.
The food stalls are still the same (I tend to memorize the food stall locations because I don’t want to walk around every time I visit. I always know what food I want and then go straight to it).
I walked around the place to see if my favorites were still there, and they were.
I got my take-home food, which is shrimp in cajun sauce. I also took some photos and want to share with you the different cuisines they have here. It feels so good to see people enjoying their time with their friends and family.
Since COVID happened, seeing a lot of people feels refreshing. For me, it means we are really back and are now almost at the end of the tunnel.
Hopefully, you guys here can visit this place soon. It is a must-visit place to try Cebu City's best food. These food stalls are owned by small businesses but offer some delicious meals at an affordable price.
They are only open late afternoon till late at night, from Wednesday to Sunday, 12 PM to 10 PM. You can check their page at this link. https://www.facebook.com/SugboMercado/
