Today I bring you an easy and delicious recipe to delight the palates of young and old: a delicious cake made with bread. At home we eat a lot of bread, unlike arepas. I think it's partly because of its fast consumption and that a hot buttered bread is something out of this world for Venezuelans. Here we eat a lot of sandwich bread and loaf bread, and since we vary our breakfasts so as not to get bored, at the end of the week we end up with one or two loaves of bread drifting in the oven.
That is why I decided to recreate this recipe to make the most of the star ingredient, the bread. So I set to work with the purchase of the ingredients I needed and I made it. The appearance of the bread cake is like a quesillo, soft and sweet. It is one of my favorite cakes 🥰 Get paper and pencil to recreate it. Below, I show you the ingredients.

- 2 tazas de leche condensada.
- 3 huevos.
- 2 hogazas de panes tipo canilla y 4 de sandwich de varios días.
- Uvas pasas negras al gusto.
- 3 tazas de leche líquida (750 ml).
- 6 cucharadas de margarina derretida.
- Vainilla al gusto.
- Caramelo.
- 2 cups condensed milk. 3 eggs. 2 loaves of bread and 4 loaves of sandwich bread of several days. Black raisins to taste. 3 cups of liquid milk (750 ml). 6 tablespoons of melted margarine. Vanilla to taste. Caramel.
Preparación // Preparation
Step 1. Pour the milk in a deep bowl, chop the bread into pieces and add them. Let it soak for 1 hour, and with the help of a whisk, finish crumbling the bread. Then add the two tablespoons of vanilla. Let it rest for 30 minutes more.
Step 2. Blend the raisins together with half cup of milk and add to the previous mixture.
Step 3. With the help of a whisk, stir this mixture very well and add: the eggs, the previously melted butter and the condensed milk. Mix well with the whisk until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Step 4. I used a caramel that I bought at the supermarket but you can prepare your own as follows: pour a cup of water along with a cup of sugar over medium heat and stir carefully. When it comes to a boil, you have to watch for the caramel to turn from golden to light brown. Turn it off and pour it into the bowl where you are going to pour your cake mixture.
Step 5. Grease the mold with margarine, pour the caramel to cover all the walls of the mold and pour the mixture very carefully.
Step 6. Preheat the oven to 350°C and bake for 50 minutes at 200°C. Check halfway through baking with the help of a wooden toothpick or a spaghetti stick to check the inside. Once ready, turn off the oven and let stand until completely cooled.
