Hello fellow ka Foodies. This will be my first post in this Communities. But this is not my first visit here coz I read some article from here too. I love to visit here because I can discover a lot of foods from all over the world. Learning a thing or two about foods from other Country is what really makes me excited. If you're a food lover it's automatically a thing for us. Agree? Hihi.
Anyways, I'll be sharing to all of you one of my favorite dessert that we often cook when we have available bananas in the house. It is my all time favorite because aside from it's really delicious, this one is also easy to prepare. We just need 3 main Ingredients here which is;
- Banana (cut into cubes)
- Sugar
- Water
And this is the kind of Banana that I will be using. We call it Saba Banana. Another variety of Banana from Philippines. And we can eat this raw too. They say it's much healthier if we will eat it raw. But for me or to some. There is nothing wrong if we will give it a new touch. You know, to make it more yummier. And mind you guys, we can cook this in different way. Aside from Sweetened Banana I also love Turon and Banana Que.
Ever since I was a kid these desserts is what I always asked to my Mom to make whenever we have Bananas in the house. If not fried, steamed banana or fritter, Turon or Banana Cue then it's "Sinulbot na Saging" or Sweetened Banana. But the one I will be sharing today is this Sinulbot na Saging. In some places they called it "Minatamis na Saging" but here in our Province we called it "Sinulbot." Not really sure where this word is derived but one thing is for sure, it's is sooooo delicious. A must try at that. By the way "Saging" is the Tagalog word of Banana.
So here's the Banana that we are going to use. I already peeled it and cut it into two. I need to cut it more like this. The size really depends on you. As for me because we have a plan to make "Banana Con Yelo" I cut it into a little size. I'll show you what is Banana Con Yelo later.
And this is the size that we need. By the way if you heard about Philippines "Halo-Halo" before or "Mix-Mix" you can also see this fruit into that dessert and I tell yah guys, it's delicious and really good for Sunny Weather. It's also one of my favorite but I can't eat it often coz I easily get a sore throat, lol.
Okay, let's proceed to the next step. After peeling all the banana and after cutting it to your desired size. Get a Pan, put it in a stove and heat it. As for me, when I cook this I put the sugar immediately and wait for it to melt.
Just like this. As for the measurement I think I used 125 Grams of brown sugar. I didn't really measure it but I used half of ¼ klo of Sugar. And that's really depends on you if you want it sweeter. As for us it's already enough as you can see on how much Banana I have on my plangganita.
After the sugar melted you will need water, as for the measurement I put 3 cups I think. You can just measure it just as long your banana can soak all in there. Just like at the Picture, simmer it and wait for the sauce to thickens. You need to stir it too.
So after 18 Minutes it will look like this. I made it 25 Minutes coz of the sauce. You can check it if its already okay by trying ot off course. That's what I'm doing just to be sure.
And there yah go. It is ready to be serve.
And now for our Banana con Yelo. You only need 4 things here,
- Sweetened Banana
- Ice (Crushed)
- Milk
- Sugar (Optional)
Sugar is just optional coz our Banana is already sweetened. The main ingredients here is the Milk and the Crushed Ice.
We used this thing to crushed the ice. And because my Mama has an experience to this things, she's the one who do the crushing. What we need is a finely crushed ice and so we used this. Mama also has experience before in selling a Halo Halo in our Area so she has fast hand. Ahh, I remember that day. I can have a free Halo Halo because she sells it, lol.
This should be put into a long glass but because I don't have that and also I prefer this coz I can see the whole thing hehe. And yep, just put those Ingredients I mention above in one bowl, glass or whatever you prefer. I used Evaporated Milk on mine while Moms put a powdered milk on theirs. It's still the same, it taste the same, and it is delicious. It's refreshing, it's sweet, and it's much better if you will put a lot of ice on it to enjoy it more.
Yum Yum 🤤. Anyone? You want?
