No EFTPOS
Last week I mentioned that a local Asian bakery was operating without an EFTPOS device in blog post here.
I say "Asian bakery" but in reality it's a regular bakery with the usual Australian fair, meat pies, pasties, and all the sweet things I really should avoid.
It just always had Asian owners and they were the nicest people. My guess is that they were
Vietnamese as many of the local shop owners are, but I am not one to presume anything.
I’ve even made a TikTok videoabout the lack of EFTPOS (Electronic Funds Transfer Point Of Sale)
facilities. It makes it rather difficult to pay for goods and services at a time when people are avoiding the use of cash.
No EFTPOS, No worries!
That video went really well for some strange reason but anyway, I am here with an update to the
situation.
The Chicken Pie
The humble chicken pie has been a mainstay of Australian cuisine for a long time. It serves a great alternative to pork for muslims, and for those looking for a slightly healthier alternative to the traditional beef pie.
For diabetics, pies like this are not only high in calories but have around 40g of carbohydrates, which translates to nearly 3 carb units but those calories are low G.I. and not sugar based.
My suggestion would be to cut it half and add vegetables as a plate filler.
To me, the three cuts to the pie lid resemble a chicken’s foot. I am not sure if this is an official / universal thing or not or just a branding thing. I do know that different pies have different types of markings on their lids for easy recognition.
Some chicken pies can have peas, carrots and other veggies included in them too, but this one didn’t as you can see above. It’s still a delicious meal though.
Return Of The EFTPOS
As well as the original TikTok video, I also made a hilarious follow up about it too!
For some reason, it wasn’t as popular, but I found it funny.
A hilarious update!
The link to the video is below.
I waited a week before going back to the bakery and was beyond pleased to see that they indeed had
a brand new EFTPOS machine and more staff members. You could say I was elated to have them back!
What had happened was there was a change of ownership and the original owners had taken the EFTPOS machine with them and the new owners had to wait for a replacement. This took around a week or so.
Imagine this image with the chorus to “I want you back” by Take That playing over it.
Indeed, all was forgiven. ”I wanted them back, I wanted them back for good...”
Alternatively, you can save your imagination and see the video here:
Anyway, that’s all from me today.
Until next time, I hope the videos give you something to laugh at and I will see you in the kitchen!
