Yep, I did… I stole my amazing Wife from the Kids, hid her out at The Lodge for the night after filling our bellies with Anthony’s fine seafood cookin’. Nestled in the cove of Columbia Point Marina, looking over the Columbia River, isn’t a bad place to hide out. I suggest getting a river front room on the 3rd or 4th floor with a soaker tub :wink:wink
Anthony’s… good ol’ Anthony’s… With several locations only in the Pacific Northwest, we are lucky to have one just an hour away. Now if I lived near Seattle, WA that would be a different story. Seems to be one on every block in the Pudget Sound… Seafood restaurant next to the “sea” hmmm weird….
Anthony’s never disappoints!! Their menu changes depending on the season. The last time we went I devoured a plate of sturgeon. I don’t pay much attention to all the fancy sauces and sides they use to compliment the main dish, I just know our plates get licked clean. Maybe I will try that next time and see what Mama Splatts does when I pick up my plate and start licking it. 🤔
Calamari… yep!! Mama Splatts and I could eat a 5 gallon bucket of fried calamari. When it gets brought to the table, it becomes a race to see who can eat more. I should have ordered us each a plate, instead of sharing one.
Just like in an airplane, I always request a window seat. Wouldn’t you much rather look out onto the marina and Columbia River than other people stuffing their faces? The dimly lit restaurant makes it easy to see the the reflection of lights on the water. But when you attempt to take a photo… it turns out quite interesting…
After playing around taking some photos and enjoying a nice locally brewed amber ale… “I’ll have another please”… the main course was at our table. Wait… the chowder!!! I’m not a huge fan of clam chowder. I will eat a small portion but that’s about it. Anthony’s chowder on the other hand… I’ll take a man-sized bowl of that. I ate it so quickly, the thought of a photo didn’t even cross my mind.
Unable to make up our minds, the waitress showed up for the 3rd time. So it was time to pull the trigger. Mama Splatts decided for her birthday dinner she is gonna sink her teeth into some tender Pacific Northwest King Salmon. Served with lightly steamed veggies and rested on top of their signature potatoes.
Since she grabbed the salmon, I chose the grilled Wild Caught Alaska Halibut. As a kid, once a year my Dad and his buddies would go halibut and salmon fishing. So salmon and halibut take me back… Fresh salmon and halibut… now that’s tough to beat.
Forks Up…
Phones Down…
It’s time to grub
Yep just as I expected… delicious!!! Our forks didn’t stay on our own plates, they often wondered off snatching a bite or 3 from what the other ordered. So in a sense we each ordered a half order of salmon and halibut. Normally Mama Splatts forces me to have a bite whatever she is having… not this time.
After washing down the halibut and salmon with the last of my amber ale, we took a little walk around the marina. With the temperature being around 40F and a slight breeze, we didn’t wonder too far. It was a little chilly. That warm room at The Lodge was calling our names.
Anthony’s always wants you coming back for more. When the temps warm back up we will have to venture back and enjoy a seafood meal outside on their patio. With a glass or 2 of some locally brewed beers… now that sounds nice.
Happy Birthday
The next day we enjoyed a morning walk on the path that wonders around the marina. Without the wind it wasn’t near as cold as the night before. It was quite a bit more enjoyable.
Then we had to leave the peacefulness of the Columbia River and join the chaos of the last minute Christmas shoppers such as ourselves.
If you are ever in the Pacific Northwest, look up Anthony’s. It’s a little spendy but always worth every penny in my book.
