This place is so cute that I have to share it!
So what was the occasion that I visited this bakery today with my family? Well, to be honest, we were walking around the area of the science museum today and looking for a place to have lunch. Not the sweet tooth lunch we found at this bakery though, I truly had to have some other food first to make sure I wouldn't end up nauseous. While looking for this particular place, we passed this bakery called Kex. I was drawn inside by the cakes that looked like absolute artworks! I asked if they had something like a croissant as I noticed the image outside on the building, but the guy told me it was always sold out in the morning. My daughter already let her eyes fall on the cakes and sweets in the bakery, so it was quite hard to leave and find another place to eat and make her understand this as she wanted something from here. Which I could totally understand!
After lunch, we decided to have dessert!
We normally don't do this, but today was a family day out and we thought we should just all enjoy it to the max and so we walked back. The weather was great, we all walked without wearing jackets and enjoyed the early October sun while walking back.
The outside of the bakery. Wait until you see the inside!
Doesn't it look amazing?
What to pick from all these delicious things?
I wasn't sure what to pick as I'm personally not the biggest cake fan, I can enjoy it when it's made by a good baker, but would normally not buy it for myself. My daughter on the other hand.. haha. I first had a look at all the cakes:
But also had to check out the other goodies:
To be honest, there was more but even though I asked permission to take the pictures, I always still feel slightly uncomfortable taking as many pictures as I did today. I try to be as quick as possible and hope to arrive home with enough pictures to give the readers the best impression of the visit while respecting other guests their privacy as they are sitting there.
All three of us picked something different
And while I was paying, my boyfriend sat down with our daughter and when I turned around to join them, they already started eating and I couldn't even take a decent picture of their sweets anymore. My boyfriend ordered the cheesecake, which was half-done when I sat down, so I left that one out (lol). He did enjoy it, that I can tell you!
Luckily, the little lady was less quick and had an enormous brownie as her dessert, which I still find an achievement itself that she was able to eat it all by herself (I sure couldn't have done it, so rich that these are).
The brownie minus a bite :)
I chose the tiramisu:

Honestly, I've had my fair share of tiramisu in my life, but this was the best ever! So good! Truly delicious and I'd come back for this alone, haha.
Impressions of the bakery
After we finished our desserts, I went ahead and took the rest of the pictures for a good impression of this (huge!) bakery. The place is a big match with all the delicious and marvelous-looking sweets they sell. Let's first have a look at the remaining bakery pictures before I end this visit with the best ones: the art (cakes). Saving the best for last.
Olaf was there as well!
And finally, the most amazing looking cakes I've ever seen
These are true masterpieces if you ask me. I couldn't get enough of them. I didn't capture them all, but close enough:
This one looked very cool as well, but I cut off the top of the cake when I took the picture. I didn't notice this until I got home. Oops, thought I should still share it as I liked it:
And last, my favorite one:
The picture of this one is a bit dark, too bad, but I think anyone can still see what a piece of art this is. I mean, if you would paint this scenery on a canvas, you could sell it, this is a piece of art on a cake, so probably even tastes delicious as well. I'd almost feel sad for cutting it. Wouldn't you?
Conclusion
Our visit was very nice, we enjoyed the desserts, I wanted to buy some other sweets to take home as well, but these wouldn't have arrived home in one piece as we were heading back to the science museum after this visit. Too bad, as we would probably love these as much as the dessert. This means we have to go back there soon, to try some other baked goodies.
I want to compliment the owner(s) of this bakery as this place is an absolute gem. You truly know how to capture your passion for baking and it feels like the bakery itself is one piece with all the things you're selling there. It compliments each other perfectly, and I don't see this that often anymore. It was an absolute pleasure visiting and we hope to come back soon!
What was your favorite cake from all the pictures above? Any cake you'd fancy?
