Hey everyone! My name is Ben Wickenton and I am an 18 year old hobbyist landscape and astrophotographer from The Great Ocean Road, Australia. Hive was recommended to me by a super talented landscape photographer based in British Columbia, Canada. I'm stoked to find a new platform to share my work with.
I've been shooting landscapes for about three years and I started with astrophotography at the beginning of 2020. My passion is being able to capture the beauty as I see it. This is helped by the fact that I live close to one of the most beautiful coastlines in Australia and possibly the world. Photography has allowed me to see the world in a different light where everything holds the opportunity to be photographed.
I would love to travel around the world taking photos, especially iceland, canada, mexico and the us. But for now, i'll continue capturing images in my own backyard!
This image is one of my newest and favourite shots i've taken so far. Back in early november the illusive Aurora Australis was visible from the southern Australian coastline (normally only visible in Tasmania) and I was able to capture it over the Tom and Eva Lookout on the great ocean road. This shot was taken about 3km away from the world famous 12 apostles!
This is two exposures, with one for the sky and one for the foreground.
