Hello dear colleagues, this is my first post in a group; thank you for introducing me to this one.
I work in a public school for dancers, currently in a position of school psychologist and before that was also a teacher.
When transferred from an other school, it was positive shock for me, and still remember first comment after first tour around the school: woow, it looks like Un paso adelante.
Very soon found out what are similarities and what are differences
between this series and my school :) it looks more like this.
Although now not a teacher, in my job description is a lot of activities with pupils, which I love the most (ofc :)).
In our curriculum, mandatory are activities that suppose to increase level of interdisciplinary competencies and my favorites are (mental)health, ecology/environment and digital world.
I saw that it is one of the rules not to talk about pupils in a way that they can recognize themselves, but in this case, I have only words of laudation; besides, those kind of things are public anyway, we put them on the school site.
Due to very tight schedule of activities, lack of free rooms and working material, I am very excited and happy when chance for a practical creative project appears. That happened few weeks ago: the task for teachers was to make a different form of class than usual, based on responsible attitude towards health IC.
In cooperation with teacher of ballet and pupils from the first grade of elementary ballet school, an extraordinary class was made.
Before the class itself, we had great creative time preparing everything for the main event. Pupils decided to take personal hygiene topic and agreed that they alone will make choreography.
Meanwhile, we talked about different aspects of hygiene, repeated known and learned new things.
After a week of rehearsal and discussions, time for main class has come: costumes, makeup, music, colors, cooperation, dancing, energy... first part of the class was dedicated to making panel, then was choreography, and at the end we were talking about interesting but less known facts about (personal) hygiene.
me with the material for discussion and headband that pupils put on, like the mask is not enough :D
work in progress :)
Ooww... I want more, much more classes like this; like a game through which kids could learn many things without loosing motivation and being active most of the time, which is, as we know, not usual in regular classes :(
Unfortunately, 45 minutes are not even close to make creative work that includes all pupils and at the same time cover all topics + mandatory class structure
I would like to hear form you: how are you dealing with the lack of time, do you also have 11 interdisciplinary competencies that needs to be included in every class? Also, would like to read about examples of the work that you have enjoyed more than usual.
Does the saying from the title applies to you? :)
