Team building motivates people to work together, develop strengths, and address any weaknesses. It also encourages collaboration rather than competition.
The Ilihan Integrated School teaching force was spearheaded by our gorgeous school head, Madam Rica. We made a wonderful memory in a well-known place in the north specifically at San Remegio Beach Club where everybody was amused and excited. The assembly time is 9 a.m. but due to other emergencies, it started at 10:30.
The activity was hosted by the San Remegio Beach Club Facilitators (all teachers can join in any game). It started with a prayer by our Campus ministry coordinator , with a solemn atmosphere and the breeze of the wind coming from the sea.
welcomed everyone for coming and creating such memories from that place.
Next, was the presentation of participants and led by one of the devoted and energetic teachers from the elementary department, Sir Jerome.
The groups blue, yellow, and red (grouped before the event) were presented in a creative way where we made a yell with only 3 minutes in making them present it. What an amazing IIS!
Then, Madam Rica gave her statement of purpose with enthusiasm, and delighted to do our first team building with her.
After giving it, the facilitator called her attention for they had something known after the arrival of the last vehicle. Everyone turned their way to that vehicle, but nothing was found, the next car they found a case of beer but it was not the reason, it was the birthday surprise! Full of balloons, a cake, and a bouquet of money. She’s surprised because she didn’t expect the prank to get her.
Everybody got the opportunity to take a photo with her together with the facilitators. Madam Rica was so happy as I can see in her eyes.
Everyone came back to the ground for the games to begin. The groups had a warm-up in preparation for the real battle which was prepared also by the facilitators. It is so relieving on our part as teachers because this time we can inhale-exhale from our loaded work. We had so many things to do but we forget that day to relax our minds so that when we come back to reality, we have the power to face it again.
The facilitators had so many games to play, but there are four games we played before lunchtime. It’s not just a game, it’s a team-building game where there’s cooperation, trust, and perseverance. I don’t know the game’s name, but I know how to do it.
The first game is to clap once, as you count one then tap your left colleague once, then tap your right coworker once also. Then finish it at 10 as the same process, but we must make it faster because it has time to beat. As soon as the groups finished, the blue team won! Woohoo!
The next game was passing the hola hoop by receiving it from the hands all over the body and then passing it to the next person, but everybody should hold their hands tight. After the last person is done with the hola hoop, she’ll do it again, and pass it to the next person until finishes. Then, the fastest team goes to team blue. Woohoo! We won again!
The third game was pairing, the pair should hold their hand tight to pass on the coin with care so that it won't fall. The same process as the hola hoop that after receiving the last pair, will pass again the coin until finished. Again, the blue team won! Jezz! The blue team has so much power and energy.
The fourth and last game was a flat wood with a rope that exactly 3 people can hold, then walk by pulling the rope and step together and as you finish the first line, the other 3 persons will take over to finish the other line. In this game, the red team won. It's okay, they deserved it. Then the facilitator declares the winners and the Blue team got the highest points. Congratulations!
The facilitators announced to have our lunch in the venue. As we went there, wow! Fascinating, such a nice place. We form a line as we get our plates and food. Their foods are so delicious together with the pledged roasted pig by Madam Rica. Everybody finds themselves comfortable and eats well.
After eating sumptuous lunch, we decided to take pictures individually.
Part 2 of the activities is maze running, rappelling, climbing, and ziplining. First, we have to wear our gear.
First, the maze runner, we need to walk with the team in a maze where we must find the right path to reach the end of it. Everybody was so excited to find which way should be. The first team who completed the maze was the yellow team!
Next was ziplining, where the facilitators taught us how to position ourselves the same with rappelling. I got so nervous since it was my first time trying it. I am afraid of heights but thanks to them, they made me/us relaxed. At first, I wanted to back out but there was no going back I have to conquer my fears. I chilled and trembled but was able to make it through.
Rappelling feels like a lineman. When a crew pulls down its rope it's easy but when it's my turn, the same feeling as ziplining. Hooh! I have to do it. Thank God I was able to face it.
Last but not easy, the climb, was painful in the legs because we get used to energy from it. Other colleagues made it to the top! Such an amazing experience we had!
Snacking after vigorous activity.
After such activities, we were able to dip for a while in a salty sea, after a few minutes we transferred to the swimming pool while others are enjoying some mild beers and chitchatting with those experiences. Everything was done with a smile on our faces though were tired, we managed to go home safely.
All photos were taken from my colleague's DSLR
That's all for today Hivers. Thank you for reading this far and God bless us all!
