I’ve finally managed to optimize my power consumption a bit by setting up a way to remotely restart or wake up my PC.
This is done using the “Wake on LAN” feature, which sends a signal to the network card to start the PC.
I can send this signal through the Fritzbox; ages ago, I used to have dedicated hardware for this that was connected to the PC via the LAN.
Now I can still access my PC at any time without it having to be on all the time. This way, I’m actually saving quite a bit on electricity and can also optimize my electricity production a bit. If I produce too much, I start up my PC and let it do some work for me. At night, it’s now put into sleep mode.
I really should have done this a long time ago; this way, I can save a few euros on electricity costs each year. But I hadn’t gotten around to it because I didn’t know it was so easy to do with the Fritzbox.
So mining crypto with the PC isn’t worth it—you barely get anything out of it, but it runs at full capacity. I need to set up Honeygain and similar programs on the new PC again, which I just hadn’t gotten around to yet.

ich habe endlich mal mein Stromverbrauch etwas optimiert, indem ich eingerichtet habe, dass ich mein PC aus der Ferne neu starten/wecken kann.

Dieses Signal kann ich durch die Fritzbox schicken, vor ewigkeiten hatte ich dafür mal richtige Hardware, die zwischen dem PC am Lan dran war.
Nun kann ich jederzeit weiterhin auf meinen PC zugreifen ohne das mein PC ständig an ist. So Spare ich nun doch einges an Strom und kann auch meinen produzierten Strom etwas optimieren. Wenn ich zu viel produziere, starte ich meinen PC und lass ihn etwas arbeiten für mich. Nachts wird er nun in den Ruhe modus versetzt.
Hätte ich eigentlich schon längst mal machen sollen, so kann ich im Jahr einige Euro an Stromkosten sparen. Hatte mich aber nicht drum gekümmert, weil ich nicht wusste, dass es so einfach mit der Fritzbox geht.
Also Krypto mit dem PC zu minen lohnt nicht, da kommt kaum was rum, dafür ist er dann aber auf Vollast. Muss zusehen auf dem neuen PC nun wieder Honeygain und ähnliches einzurichten, was ich auch einfach noch nicht geschafft hatte.
