| jetzt ist es schon ein Jahr her (Announcement-Post), seit ich einen Witness-Server aufgesetzt habe und für die Hive-Blockchain Blöcke validiere und signiere! | Zum Glück nicht viel. Drei Mal gab es eine Fehlfunktion und Blöcke wurden "gemissed", insg. 34, was zwar nicht schön ist, aber akzeptabel im Vergleich. Beim ersten Mal wusste ich noch nicht, dass man seinen Witness einfach "disablen" und somit das Verpassen von Blöcken verhindern kann. Ja, eine Lernkurve hat es definitiv gegeben😄. | Fortunately not much. There were so far three malfunctions and blocks were missed, 34 in total, which is not nice, but acceptable in comparison. At the first time, I didn't know that you could simply disable the witness server and thus prevent blocks from being missed. Yes, there was definitely a learning curve😄. |
| Einmal führte ich ein Upgrade auf Version 1.27.3 durch, aber abgesehen davon, dass es mehrere Tage dauerte, bis die Chain wieder synchronisiert war, hat das problemlos funktioniert. | At one point I upgraded to version 1.27.3, but apart from the fact that it took a couple of days for the chain to synchronise again, it worked without any problems at all. |
Man sieht also, wirklich jeder kann Witness werden, auch ohne großartige Computerkenntnisse, wenn er (oder sie) will, auch Du! Je mehr aktive Witnesses, desto besser! Es gibt auch viele Hiver wie  Hive account@rishi556, die gerne mit kompetentem Rat helfen, falls ein Problem auftaucht. Außerdem habe ich ein detailliertes Tutorial geschrieben, was - Schritt für Schritt - zu tun ist, vom Kauf des Servers bis zur Schlüsselgenerierung und Aktivierung des Witness, extra für Computerlaien. Damit sollte es noch einfacher sein. | So you see, really anyone without being an IT expert can become a witness, if he (or she) wants to, including you! The more active witnesses, the better! There are also many hivers like Hive account@rishi556 who are happy to help with expert advice if a problem arises. I have also written a detailed guide on what to do - step by step - from buying the server to generating the keys and activating the witness, in computer laymens´ language. That should make it even easier. |

| Derzeit bin ich im Ranking auf Platz 72, was besser ist, als ich ursprünglich gedacht hatte, insbesondere da ich keinen einzigen Vote der Hive-Elite habe (die Top 20 voten sich gerne gegenseitig)! | I am currently 72th in the rankings, which is better than I originally thought especially since I don't have a single vote from the Hive "elite" (the top 20 like to vote for each other)! |
| Aber, andererseits, es gibt noch Luft nach oben 😄. Ich produziere seit über 6,5 Jahren qualitativen Content, bin hier sehr aktiv, vor allem in der DACH- und der Schach-Community und habe (im Vergleich zu vielen anderen Witnesses) NOCH NIE AUCH NUR EINEN EINZIGEN HIVE downgepowert. Jeder Witness reward wird bei mir auch in Zukunft aufgepowert bleiben (das sollte eigentlich selbstverständlich sein)! | But, on the other hand, there is still room for improvement 😄. I've been producing quality content for >6.5 years, I'm very active here, especially in the DACH and chess communities, and (compared to many other witnesses) I've NEVER POWERED DOWN A SINGLE HIVE. | Pro Tag signiere ich derzeit ca. 8 Blöcke (zum Vergleich, die Top 20 sind bei ca. 1430 Blöcken pro Tag, Nr. 21 schon nur mehr bei 83 Blöcken), pro Block bekommt man als Nicht-Top 20 ca. 1,34 Hive (und die Top-20 "nur" 0,267). Zur Info, als Top-20 Witness darf man jeden 21. Block validieren (also ca. 1/Minute), d.h. 20 Blöcke gehen an die Top-20 und der 21. wird dann randommäßig allen anderen zugewiesen, je höher man im Ranking ist, desto öfter. | I currently sign about 8 blocks per day (for comparison, the top 20 are at about 1430 blocks per day, nr. 21 already only at app. 84 blocks), per block you get about 1,34 Hive as a non-top 20 (and "only" 0,267 as top 20). For info, as a top 20 witness you are allowed to validate every 21st block (approx. 1/minute), i.e. 20 blocks go to the top 20 and the 21st is then randomly assigned to all others, the higher you are in the ranking, the more often. |
| Ab welchem Ranking man profitabel ist, hängt von mehreren Faktoren ab, natürlich von den Kosten, die man mit dem Server hat und auch vom aktuellen Hive-Kurs. Ich zahle im Monat ca. 45€, d.h. beim derzeitigen Hive-Kurs müsste man bei vergleichbaren Serverausgaben ab ca. Rank 82-83 kostendeckend sein. Ich bin zum Glück schon seit einiger Zeit im Plus. Man darf aber auch nicht vergessen, dass ich mir noch nie etwas ausgezahlt habe, da die Rewards als HP kommen und ich sicher nicht so bald einen PD machen werde. Daher ist es für mich ein stetes Investment in Hive (mit guter Rendite). | From which ranking onwards you are profitable depends on several factors, of course on the costs you have with the server and also on the current hive price. I pay around $48 a month, which means that at the current hive price you should be profitable from around rank 82-83. Fortunately, I've been in the black for months. | Lohnt es sich, einen Backup-Server zu betreiben? Im Fall eines Problems, könnte man diesen sofort aktivieren und währenddessen das Problem am Primärserver fixen (das meist im erneuten Laden der gesamten Blockchain besteht, was mehrere Tage Downtime bedeutet). Ein paar Blöcke verpasst man ohnehin, da man nicht ständig die Chain beobachten kann (und ich leider keine automatische Benachrichtigung eingerichtet habe). Ich denke, dass es sich derzeit für mich noch nicht lohnt, für die wenigen Off-Tage, die man sich damit erspart, nochmal 45€ pro Monat Fixkosten zu haben! Ich möchte es aber für die Zukunft nicht ausschliessen, falls ich mal im Ranking in Richtung 50 klettern sollte😄! | Is it worth operating a backup server? In case of a problem, one could activate it immediately and fix the problem on the primary server in the meantime (which usually involves reloading&resyncing the entire blockchain, resulting in several days of downtime). Some blocks will be missed anyway, as it's not possible to constantly monitor the chain (and unfortunately, I haven't set up automatic notifications). I don't think it's currently worth it for me to have an additional fixed cost of 45€ per month for the few off-days it saves. However, I don't want to exclude it for the future, in case I should climb towards the top 50 in the ranking😄! |

| Man sieht hier nicht nur auf einen Blick, welcher Witness derzeit einen Powerdown durchführt (das Schweinchensymbol🐖), sondern auch, welche Votes welcher Witness bekommt und auch die chronologischen Änderungen der Votes (die beiden Symbole rechts von der Anzahl der Voter)! Und verpasste Blöcke werden besonders hervorgehoben - sehr hilfreich! | Here you can not only see at a glance which witness is currently performing a powerdown (the pig symbol🐖), but also which votes which witness is receiving and also the chronological changes to the votes (the 2 symbols right of the number of voters)! It highlights also in case blocks are missed - very useful! |

| Abgesehen davon bin ich für die Beibehaltung der 20% APR auf die HBD savings und die Beibehaltung des Rewardpools, so wie er ist (wenn, dann sollten eher die Curation rewards etwas weniger werden zugunsten der Author Rewards). Es gab ja in letzter Zeit einige Debatten disbezüglich, aber wie es aussieht gibt es gottseidank derzeit KEINEN Konsens, etwas zu ändern. | Apart from that, I am in favor of retaining the 20% APR on HBD savings and keeping the reward pool as it is (if anything, the curation rewards should be slightly reduced in favor of the author rewards). As you might know there have been some debates about this recently but seems there is no consensus to change anything soon. |
