Das "Budgetloch" ist in Österreich doppelt so groß wie gedacht. Das Schuldenmachen hat sogar einen Punkt erreicht, wo der Staat die Hälfte der Reparaturkosten subventioniert, wenn man sein Smartphone kaputtmacht.
Diese Subvention wird in Österreich "Reparaturbonus" genannt und ist nur die Spitze des Eisbergs. Mittlerweile gibt es für alles mögliche Subventionen, zb auch für Fahrradreparaturen, Handwerker, etc.
Vor der Wahl gab es noch kein Budgetloch, nach der Wahl mussten 6 Milliarden eingespart werden und jetzt nach den Koalitationsverhandlungen stellt sich heraus, dass in Wirklichkeit 12 Milliarden fehlen, um das Defizit auf 3% des BIP zu reduzieren. Ohne Sparpaket würde das Defizit vermutlich eher Richtung 5% gehen, was schon ziemlich heftig ist.
Zusätzlich zu dem regulären Defizit plant die Regierung auch bei ReArm Europe mitzumachen und Milliarden für Rüstung, SkyShield etc. auszugeben. Zusätzliches Geld, das in der jetzigen wirtschaftlichen Situation überhaupt nicht vorhanden ist.
Anders als in Deutschland gibt es in Österreich noch weniger Spielraum für neue Schulden, da wir keine Schuldenbremse hatten und während der Pandemie der damalige Finanzminister "koste es, was es wolle" betrieben hat.

The “budget hole” in Austria is twice as big as expected. Debt has even reached a point where the state subsidizes half of the repair costs if you break your smartphone.
This subsidy is called the “repair bonus” in Austria and is just the tip of the iceberg. There are now subsidies for all sorts of things, e.g. also for bicycle repairs, craftsmen, etc.
Before the election in Austria there was officially no budget gap, after the election 6 billion had to be saved and now after the coalition negotiations it turns out that in reality 12 billion are missing to reduce the deficit to 3% of GDP. Without the measures, the deficit would probably be closer to 5%, which is already quite severe.
In addition to the regular deficit, the government also plans to participate in ReArm Europe and spend billions on military, SkyShield etc. Additional money that is not available at all in the current economic situation in Europe.
Unlike in Germany, there is even less scope for new debt in Austria, as we had no debt brake and during the pandemic the then finance minister went on a “whatever the cost” policy.
