"Note to self: no matter how bad life gets, there’s always beer."
Fuck, this one hurts. As someone in their 30's, Norm was a huge part of my childhood. My Dirty Work and Screwed VHS's were probably worn thin from watching them every night as I fell asleep. I had many favorites growing up but Norm was always at the top. Even up to his passing, he was still coming out with new stuff to make me laugh in a way that no one else could. He's an absolute legend and I'll miss him so much.
Trigger warning: If you're still very sad about Norm's passing listen to this video when you're in a better place. Bob's voice is filled with emotion and he sounds absolutely wrecked while recounting memories of his friend. It was a listen I needed, but it made me tear up and miss the man even more than I thought I could. If you can handle it, I highly recommend giving it a watch. It's mostly audio but it does feature some old candid photos on a slideshow. Some of the things he touches on:
- How they met and became friends
- The backstory on Norm's famous bit at Bob's Comedy Central Roast (really sweet segment)
- A story about a prank Norm pulled on Bob while having him over for his podcast. He later talks about another prank Norm pulled on him.
- Norm really admired and loved his comical peers that "got him" He would bomb set's just to amuse them. Bob calls him a comic's comic.
- How much he loves Dirty Work and loved working on the movie with him. Some little bit's of behind the scenes info too.
- Norm Was pretty spiritual which kind of shocked me. I knew he was conservative but not necessarily religious.
- Norm was a very emotional person. When someone "got him" he appreciated it greatly and wasn't afraid to tell people he loved them.
And on that note I just wanted to say, I love you Norm and I always will. Your comedy has made my life better and brighter. Thank you for everything.
