Dance? Dance you say?
You know me...I love to dance, but ... I can't do it quite right.
But I really like dance movies and I have a few scenes that I want to share it with you.
I will start with the classics...
It wouldn't be a post about dance scenes without this one classic: John Travolta and Uma Thurman hop on the stage and together they made one of the most recognised dance scenes.
Have you seen Breakfast Club?
Some of you might be too young to have seen, but it is about five students different between them ( a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal) stuck in detention. During the time they have to spend together, they find that they have more in common than they thought.
And together they dance listening to the beat of their youth. Each one in their own way, but all together.
Flashdance
A young woman, working a welder, tries to achieve her dream. Self taught dancer gives an audition in front of a strict comittee. The serious, conservative judges start to keep the rhythm by tapping their feet while our leading lady dances, and the musky and the rhythm enthralls them. But the song the girl is dancing to says it all: What a feeling!
And let's go classic: One of the most famous Russian ballet amd the most famous tap dancer join their forces in a movie with lots of propaganda, lots of cliches, but surely lots and lots of dance. Michail Baryshnikov and Gregory Heines improvise and show their talent in White nights
Bonus the solo dance of Baryshnikov:
Last, one of my favourite. I won't say much about the film, (if you want you can read it here ). Just start the video and listen to the music... Opa!
Thank you for reading!
