JOHN WICK, is a film that I would classify as the sea of entertaining, as it complies with the successful action celluloid recipe by adding a series of cooking requirements, where the most important ingredients are:
1- A bit of shootings.
2- A mixture of martial choreography.
3- A cup of persecution.
4- 1/2 dozen luxury cars.
5- A teaspoon of Sexy Women.
Then all this must be mixed with a little Vengeance, because there are 3 or 4 things that are sacred for a man in this life and those are the woman, the car and the woman's dog. This film with all this, has all the ballots to become the beginning of a Saga, because the film does not lack the most diverse places or characters and of which you want to know more.
The plot of the film is over-exploited, that is to say, typical son of a mafia dad who gets into trouble and tough daddy, he must pull all the strings to save him.
In the nightclub scene "The Red Circle" if you put Keanu Reeves in a trench coat and sunglasses, it could perfectly fit into a scene in "The Matrix."
The best supporting actor of the film, personally, is the bellboy of the hotel "Continental", in the scene in which Mr. Reeves arrives injured, the best conversation of the film takes place between them or at least the most comical and surreal with the clichés of the 24-hour doctor, the laundry service and the glass of bourbon. Following this scene, while he is being treated by the doctor, he asks him, do you want something for the pain? to which Keanu responds with a no, I have that covered, very big here. Another conversation of the best is the one in which John Wick is described at the beginning of the film, which gives the title to this post.
The success of this film lies in the fact that they have taken the best of many films and have put them together in one, since it has scenes that could be perfectly from Transporter, Crank or Rush Hour, to the point that if Keanu Reeves had been replaced in certain scenes by Jason Statham or Jackie Chan, nothing exactly would have happened and there is even a scene in the purest Matrix style, as I will reveal later.
The action scenes are very successful and that if some of them are the most original and reminiscent of the mechanics of video games like Max Payne or Hitman, that is, square cover, circle shoot, RT + O silent death. As for Keanu's interpretations, he is correct although he personally would have preferred another type of actor, on the other hand Willem Dafoe complies as usual and it is always a pleasure to see John Leguizamo playing supporting roles.
By the way, Keanu Reeves, has a mug of "The Red Circle" as shown in one of the first scenes, while making breakfast.
Finally, the script, is not that it is very original but it does comply with its good dose of tough guy phrases, which we like so much.
And to finish as a curiosity, I would like to know how many headshots Keanu gets in this movie, it practically creates a new discipline that we could call the Mixed Headshot Martial Art.
