Walt Disney, a motion picture producer and pioneer of cartoons/animations, was a brilliant, one-of-a-kind human because of the big feat of setting up a production company and theme park that positively influences young minds and it's still doing so till tomorrow!
I don't really know much about his life but my love for cartoons can be linked to him. When I watched my first Disney movie, I wanted to know the person behind these interesting, quality movies.
When I see the Disney logo on a film's poster, I become excited because I know I would love it. Disney films are always known for their humour, silly acts and valuable lessons to be learned. Though they are made specifically for children, adults love them too. Having watched quite a number of Disney films, some animations, I can hardly complain or give a negative review about any of them.
Here is a list of some of my favourites.
The Lion King (1991)
The first thing I love about this animation that never gets old for me is the opening sequence! The rising of the golden sun followed by the lovely music gets me everytime. Among my Disney favourites, the Lion King is the best.
The film is about a young cub, Simba, sent out of the Prideland after his wicked uncle, Scar, killed the king, Mufasa, and took over. This cub grows up in the wild and returns to claim back his rightful place as king.
James Earl Jones' voice was perfect for the role of Musafa and I loved it! This movie is one of the highest grossing films of all time and is a two-time Oscar winner for its original music and score.
Frozen I (2013) and II (2019)
This film made a blast after its release and it was unexpected. The reception of the computer animated musical fantasy was so huge that the Elsa, Anna and Olaf characters gained worldwide popularity and became a pop culture phenomenon.
This animation is about two sisters: one with powers who became the ice queen and the other without power but a heart. I can sing all the songs featured in the films. I hear there's a second sequel coming up soon and I'm looking forward to it.
The Princess Diaries I (2001) and II (2004)
This comedy/romance film focuses on a clumsy, shy teenage girl who later discovers she's the princess of Genovia, a small European state. She went through the process of training to behave and live like royalty and then fell in love. This film is based on a book of the same name.
As usual, Disney did an outstanding job with this film and so did Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews, my favourite actresses. I understand another sequel is in the works.
Brave (2012)
One thing I enjoy about Disney films is that the producers send a message to the young ones that regardless of their background, they can rise above it and change the narrative.
This was the message in the Scottish film, Brave. It's about a princess named Merida who changed marriage traditions in the Scottish Highlands and made her own rules instead.
There are other super interesting and amazing Disney films like Moana, The Incredibles, Up, Coco, Aladdin, Tangled, Inside Out etc.
Do you watch Disney films? What are your favourites?
