Finally, we've all seen what the production crew of the highly anticipated Rings of Power had to offer.
The first season has come to an end and some unavoidable questions are being raised by cinephiles and netizens.
They are;
Is the show worth the hype?
Did they live up to the expectation of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy?
Did they justify the $60M spent per episode?
Will you dig into the next season?
I will give my answer to these, one after another.
1. Is the show worth the hype?
Nope! Not at all. This is one weird thing about shows with really good trailers. Haha. Just have a look at the trailer we got for the show.
It is exactly everything you would expect from a TV show of this pedigree. But, when we started to get each episode, they had loads of flaws and the storyline was dragged all along for the entirety of the season.
2. Did they live up to the expectation of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy?
The first part of the trilogy was released in 2002. Regardless of how good it was, there is a certain standard expected from a prequel which comes 20 years after the original.
These lads are getting the sticks and it's rightly so. They could have done a better job, but I genuinely felt like there were loads of flaws in the show when compared to the Lord of the Ring trilogy.
3. Did they justify the $60M spent per episode?
This was the major question before we they started airing the show. Interestingly, this particular question is still trending even when we've seen the whole season. Halfway through the season, I wrote this post about the production cost per episode.
In that post, I made it obvious that I don't know where all that money was spent. They didn't justify spending that much per episode. Even after watching the entirety of the first season, I still stand by my word. $60M quid per episode is? I don't get it!
4. Will you dig into the next season?
You know what? I'm not bothered about what they do with the next season. Even the last episode of the first season took me 4 days after the release date to dig into it. This shows that I'm not captivated enough to know what happens next.
Nonetheless, I will still watch whatever comes next whenever they choose to air the second season. Since they started with a very poor rating in the first season, they will either do a good job in the second season or completely get cajoled in the second season.
Did you watch the rings of power? Feel free to answer any of the above questions about the show.
I look forward to getting your thoughts.
