The Dark Knight is unlike any other. It is uncompromising, it is violent, it is fearless, it is artistic, it is genius, it is one of the greatest comic to movie adaptions ever, and it is the best movie of 2008. Christopher Nolan's directing combined with Hans Zimmer's score creates a phenomenal movie. It is the movie that ALL comic book movies will be compared to in my opinion.
There are so many reasons why The Dark Knight is the best movie of 2008, but here are just a few that I have thought about.
For starters, Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker cannot go unnoticed. There has never been a better portrayal of Batman's greatest foe in cinema history. His dialogue delivery and his chilling presence makes this role by far his most memorable role. Yes, even more than Brokeback Mountain or A Knight's Tale . His action scenes were spellbinding and they brought fear to my heart knowing that there is no way anyone could've stopped him in an one on one fight with him. His intelligence made me understand how he can cheat everyone when he gets caught not once but twice! This man is such a genius and is truly the best character in the movie. I've seen it three times already, each time increasing my love for this performance. Now everyone knows why he was nominated for an Oscar.
Another thing that I loved about The Dark Knight is that even though it's part of Christopher Nolan's take on Batman, there are nods to Tim Burton's version of Batman . It has serious moments while being funny at other times without trying too hard to be one or the other. No matter what the mood is, the movie manages to pull through with flying colors thanks to Chris' directing . That way you are never bored or anything because something interesting is always going on in every scene. The score by Hans Zimmer also improved since his last work, Batman Begins . Plus the music is another best part of this movie! I can never get enough.
There are many more reasons why The Dark Knight is the best movie of the year, but I feel like saying too much would be a crime. It's one of those movies that everyone should see and experience for themselves to truly understand how great it is. However, if you want my honest opinion...YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIE!!
An epic masterpiece!
