I recently watched the movie "Where the Crawdads Sing" (2022). This is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Deli Owens.

I will say right away, I have not read this book, so I have no way to compare the work of art with the film adaptation. So, I'll just talk about the movie.
From the very beginning of the film, we are introduced to such a situation: the corpse of a man is found, who either fell from a dangerous place into the water himself, or there are reasons to believe that he was killed. The police begin an investigation and the first thing they suspect is a recluse girl who lives near the place of the accident, in the swamps. They arrest the girl, and the lawyer tries to get details from her in order to defend her in court. The girl begins to remember her story. The viewer plunges into the story line of memories: how she was little, how her father abused her and her family, how her mother left, followed by her sisters and brother. The girl was left alone with her father. Because he did not take care of her, she survived as best she could and did not go to school. But she did not want to leave her native home. That's how she grew up here, "on the swamps", herself. But the girl had an extraordinary talent for drawing. This was noticed by an acquaintance of hers, a boy with whom she had been friends since childhood. They started a romantic relationship, he taught her to read and write, he wanted her to publish a book. But as in all such plots, this cute guy has to go (to college or work, build a future, not sit in this "hole", etc.), and the same thing happens with this one, he goes. The girl remains alone again, hoping that he will return, but this does not happen... What will happen next - watch directly in the film, because you still need to find out who is the one killed, whether the girl is guilty and whether the lawyer will be able to defend her in court, if the whole world is against her.
The movie is quite long - 2 hours, in my opinion, it is a bit long, but it is interesting to watch to the end.

Одразу скажу, цю книгу я не читала, тому не маю як порівняти художній твір з екранізацією. Отже, буду просто розповідати про фільм.
З самого початку фільму ми знайомимось із такою ситуацією: знайдено труп чоловіка , який чи то сам впав з небезпечного місця у воду, чи то є підстави вважати, що його вбили. Поліція починає розслідування і першим ділом підозрює дівчину-відлюдницю, яка живе неподалік місця нещасного випадку, на болотах. Вони заарештовують дівчину, і адвокат намагається дізнатися в неї подробиці, аби захищати її в суді. Дівчина починає згадувати свою історію. Глядач поринає в сюжетну лінію спогадів: як вона була маленькою, як знущався над нею та її сім'єю тато, як пішла мама, а за нею й сестри та брат. Дівчина залишилась сама з татом. Через те, що він не піклувався про неї, вона виживала як могла і не ходила до школи. Але покидати рідну домівку не хотіла. Так і виросла тут, "на болотах", сама. Але в дівчини був надзвичайний талант до малювання. Це помітив її знайомий, хлопець, з яким вона товаришувала з дитинства. В них зав'язались романтичні стосунки, він навчив її читати і писати, бажав їй видати книгу. Але як в усіх подібних сюжетах, цей милий хлопець має поїхати (в коледж чи на роботу, будувати майбутнє, а не сидіти в цій "дірі" тощо), і з цим те ж саме станеться, він їде. Дівчина залишається знову сама, сподіваючись, що він повернеться, але цього не стається... Що ж відбуватиметься далі - дивіться вже безпосередньо у фільмі, адже потрібно ще дізнатися, хто той убитий, чи винна дівчина і чи зможе адвокат захистити її в суді, якщо весь світ проти неї.
Кіно доволі довге - 2 години, на мою думку, це трохи затягнуто, але цікаво додивитися до кінця.
