#Hiiii,
I'm relatively new in this community:). I'll be talking about an 80s movie today. The 80s is a very long time before I was born so finding an 80s movie that's worth it wasn't easy at all. But I found one up to my standards, yay!
Coming to America, is a comedy/romance movie that was produced in the year 1988 and directed by John Landis. It stars Eddie Murphy who played Prince Akeem of Zamunda.

The movie basically portrays a man in search of true love. Prince Akeem went to an admirable length to find the love of his life, his bride, the future queen of Zamunda,Lisa McDonald(played by Shari Headley). Well,I think one of the things I noticed and admired about the movie was how the Prince, Akeem, was so optimistic and free about everything around him.
Despite being a prince of an African nation,he reduced his status in search of something real and that's a plus for him right there. Akeem is such an admirable and funny character. I mean who gets excited to mop or stay in an apartment that's in dire need of fumigation?

And the woman he fell in love with, Liza McDowell. Based on my opinion, I'd say this woman is everything a potential queen is. She's fierce, kind, beautiful, educated and can make decisions for herself. The thing about Lisa is,she doesn't care about material things. This was literally one of the reasons Lisa and Akeem both fell in love in the first place.
Not judging or concluding about things before getting to know it.This is something nice I learnt from this movie. The world we live in today is so judgmental, I mean you can't even spill coffee on the ground without getting looks from people. It's that bad. Lisa was able to see beyond Akeem's exterior self.

Despite being Royalty, Akeem was pretty humble if you'd ask me. When he got to live a different life in America, he'd never brag nor belittle anyone irrespective of his status. He even gave out to people in need. Apart from this trait he possessed, he was very smart and wise. "No journey is too great when one finds what he seeks", motivational speeches were kind of his thing too:).
How about we go to the other characters?
Darryl Jenks, a character in the movie was in a romantic entanglement with Lisa McDowell. Well, I won't say it was a romantic entanglement, more like a match made by her dad. Lisa's dad was a fast-food shop owner and manager, he eyed riches so much.
"If it was wrong to serve God, then I choose to be wrong all my life", another wonderful saying done by the Reverend, Reverend Brown (played by Arsenio Hall).
A scene I really admire was, after the first kiss shared between Akeem and Lisa. The joy in Akeem's eyes during the beginnings of their first date. "I'm going on a date with Lisa! Isn't that wonderful?", He said, with excitement to two little kids on the street. The response he got wasn't quite optimistic but who's judging? :)
Another extreme advise I got is, sometimes you need to slow down and cool off. "He who learns to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk. One cannot fly to fly". Rushing doesn't always get you anywhere or where you want to be. You must first take things step by step or through a procedure before you'd be able to succeed.

Did I forget to add the hysterical laughter this movie got out of me? Yes, it's that funny. For a movie produced in the 80s, Coming to America is a very wonderful and interesting movie. I give it an 8 out of 10 and four stars.
You should try it if you haven't. It'd be worth your while.T stands for Thankyou.
