Gumnaami Movie Review

Finally after all the controversies, Gumnaami has released in the theatres. Hi, welcome to Film Companion Local. I'm Aritra, and I'm going to be reviewing In Gumnaami, which is based on the Mukherjee Commission hearings, three ideas about Netaji Subhas Bose's demise are discussed: the plane disaster, Russian torture, and the Gumnaami Baba scenario. This film focuses on these three hypotheses.

Information

The information is the first important factor. The audience has been given a lot of information. Bose has been the subject of several movies, but I don't believe any of them went into this much detail.

Script

It is a challenging effort to modify this much information in 2 hours and 22 minutes. Making the choice of what should be kept and what should be discarded is difficult. Srijit accomplishes it well. In this movie, the opening sequence has a song, the usage of real-world photographs and maps, and scenes from Netaji's voyage from India, from Kolkata to Japan, as well as the fighting at Imphal. It has been brilliantly represented. The death theories are then presented one by one. Because it's crucial to effectively convey this knowledge, the script has been carefully crafted.

Makeup

In the movie, Prosenjit Chatterjee exhibits a variety of appearances. Each appearance is distinctive from the others. Congratulations to Somnath Kundu for his outstanding work on prostheses. Prosenjit may not even be identifiable in other shots.

Prosenjit Chatterjee

Prosenjit Chattopadhyay did an excellent job portraying both Netaji and Gumnaami Baba. Prosenjit's body language as Bose and later as Gumnaami Baba, as well as his emotions when delivering dialogue, are excellent. It's well-planned.

Songs

The lyrics and music are excellent, moving the plot along without being obtrusively incorporated into the script to emphasize nationalism. This aspect of the movie really appealed to me.

Negative Aspects of Gumnaami Movie

Mukherjee Commission

Mukherjee Commission's portrayal By incorporating comedic elements within the Mukherjee Commission parts, the movie's mood has been altered. I seriously doubt that marijuana was brought up during the Mukherjee Commission. Those situations are incredibly overacted and look implausible. It would have been preferable if this therapy hadn't occurred.

Anirban Bhattacharyya

His personality was an amalgam of Chandrachur Ghosh and Anuj Dhar. Although I can appreciate his obsession with Netaji, the way he speaks in the commission comes off as extremely loud and obnoxious. He appears to be playing on a theatre set, and the reality of the scenario is lost. really loud and extravagant acting. The tone of the movie is also harmed by this.

The Treatment

The movie has a certain Srijit Mukherji flavor about it. Like, a single dream scene with unsteady hand-held photography and drone images. But not all patients respond well to this therapy. For instance, the handheld camera was distracting me from the topic and was unstable, and eventually got annoying.
Conclusion Gumnaami is a well-researched movie that offers a wealth of knowledge. The therapy, however, does not provide anything new. A sufficient amount of time and money should have been available to make such a movie. That concludes my review of the movie.
