The Woman King is a brand new action drama film. I'm really excited to talk about it because it is one of the best-reviewed movies of the year so far at the time of this blog.
Today on the blog, I want to talk to you guys about the brand new action drama film called The Woman King. It is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. It stars Viola Davis and John Boyega in the lead role.
Going into this film, I didn't know anything about it except for the fact that Viola Davis and John Boyega were going to be in this movie and was called 'The Woman King'. Some of the photos I saw looked like it was going to be a pretty cool movie in all. Honesty, this is a very cool and awesome movie.
Let's just dive right into the positives. I have to begin with the action scenes. This movie has a tonne of action, and it's all incredibly thrilling, loud, and epic. Particularly in the film's second part, which feels so irrational. especially with the incredibly excellent choreography. the ease with which spears impale people and the performers' ability to move about the screen. Everything was done incredibly well. With the screenplay and the fact that I genuinely cared about the characters, I was quite eager to watch these scenes. Later in the film, when particular characters passed away, I became upset. It developed into a really powerful aspect of the film. I genuinely wanted these characters to win.
I adore how this film examines the oppression experienced by these primarily female African troops and how they deal with it. You are aware that many other places still treat women as slaves or don't grant them the same rights. Because these are strong women, I thought the movie was more engaging. They have to struggle against these individuals. I think the story in this movie is incredibly interesting, especially when the main people are attempting to prepare to join this tribe. It caught my attention a lot, in my opinion. This movie, in my opinion, was extremely well-planned and well-made, especially in all the minor details and the way it genuinely makes you care.
I also really like how each character is characterized by their rank and what they wear, along with all the other things that go into that design. We learn a lot about that from simply paying attention while watching the movie without anyone expressing it out loud. That, in my opinion, was a really good addition to the film. It just seemed so organic, genuine, and real, especially given the way this movie seems. The lighting and the cinematography, which I felt was actually rather good, were also quite appealing to me.
Unfortunately, there are several drawbacks to this movie. The movie's First Act, in my opinion, was quite sluggish. This movie dragged a bit to get underway. I am aware that you are attempting to establish the characters and the environment for this world, particularly given the alternative universe you have selected. Sadly, this film simply dragged on a lot, especially considering that this movie is 2 hours and 15 minutes long. There is so much more to discover, but I simply didn't care about what was happening since I desperately wanted the film to continue.
The last drawback I have with this film is that there are a few cheesy moments that occur throughout it or simply a few things that felt a little too predictable or too simple for this film to continue. I found it to be a little irritating, particularly in the movie's second act, which I thought was obviously quite foolish. Certain are just some minor criticisms I had; I don't really understand why these character decisions would be made, but they were a little annoying and didn't really fit the characters.
Overall, The Woman King was very enjoyable. The Woman King is a very enjoyable action drama film that features everything you would want from a movie. Like, has great action, great choreography, and just a very well-acted movie, especially from Viola Davis who is phenomenal in this film as well as John Boyega. They are able to give the heart and soul of the movie. Also, Lashana Lynch is really good in this movie coming off from 'No Time To Die'. I thought everybody in this movie just made it. I thought this was a very well-made movie that definitely feels epic and grand for the big screen. I highly suggest that you guys check this film out. I'm giving The Woman King an 8 out of 10.
