A while ago I saw a trailer for the Yu Yu Hakusho live action, so obviousl y I had to see whether the Anime is any good.
Checking it out on 9Anime and Aniwave I was a bit surprised it is not some new edgy show but aired from 1992 - 1995. It would have been nice if my channels as a kid also aired this alongside DBZ which just got tedious.
Yu Yu is mainly a fighting series with a pretty good progression in the skillset, although I think they could have hit it a bit harder with the final "boss".
The storyline is pretty straightforward and if plot conveniences were chicks this show would have a harem. Even with that, it is still an enjoyable show. When they get down to the battles it makes up for any boring bits preceding.
I think many new anime must have taken inspiration from this show as it seems like a template for the types I enjoy the most. Which made it even better to watch because currently it seems there is a major lack of creativity, so much so that in this case a 20 year old show feels refreshing.
The show covers quite a lot of ground over the 112 Episodes and overall the story is not forgotten in favour of the fighting. I think the ending maybe did not have as much action punch is specifically because they brought it back to focus more on character growth and the human story.
Now I would hope they do the live action close enough but at least I will be able to know what I like or don't like.
