Here's the Trailer:
Kiss is my all time favorite hard rock band.
This movie was released at a time when Kiss was at it's 1st peak in their successful careers.
But behind the scenes, there were frictions amougst the the 4 members of Kiss.
I remember this time period pretty well.
as a Matter Of Fact the next 3 yrs would lead to Kiss doing solo albums, an attempt at a disco flavored album (unmasked), an album called Dynasty(I Was Made For Loving You was it's hit)
An album Called the Elder and then finally a split occured.
Ace Frehley and Peter Criss were out and Paul and Gene Kept going.
This Was The End For Kiss As I Knew Them
When this movie 1st came out I can remember being so excited to see it.
See Kiss was the 1st hard rock band that I heard and their music grabbed me...Detroit Rock City was the 1st song I heard!
We made popcorn and set and watched it as a family....I was very disappointed.
The story line sucked, the special effects sucked, most of the sound track sucked!!
I remember thinking that something was wrong and I did not think my Favorite band was going to be around much longer.
The Story Line
The plot of this movie is that Kiss gets a gig to play at an amusement park.
It just so happens that the parks mad scientist gets fired by the park.
He decides to get revenge and destroy the park using Kiss and his invention....He figured out how to make androids out of real humans....LOL!!
Anyways....He sets his plan into play but to succeed he has to get ahold of these talismans that give Kiss super powers
He gets them and then capture's Kiss, put's them in a cage...then he creates versions of them programmed to play different versions of their songs.
These song versions are supposed to encite violence and rioting which will in turn destroy the park he was once and employee of!
Oh but wait....Kiss use their super powers and escape and than fight themselves, win and save the day!!
The Sound Track...sucked!!!
The only songs they played that were hit's were Beth,Rock-n-Roll All Night, I Stole Your Love and New York Groove...The rest were and still are shit!!
To this day I think that this was just a way to keep the cash flow going until the wheels fell off of Kiss so to speak.
I think that the band, record company was unsure of the Bands future and they took advantage of their loyal fan base hoping to cash out big....but it flopped!!
It took the next 3 years of turmoil for the band to finally produce an album that sounded like the Kiss I knew and loved....Creatues Of The Night!!
Peter Criss was replaced by Eric Carr...Mid-way thru the tour for the album Ace left the band being replaced by Vinnie Vincent.
The rest is Kisstory!!!
Until Next Post, Stay Safe, Watch Your Favorite Movie and Enjoy The Popcorn
