This is a show that I have been watching since the first episode, the only thing I knew was the cover above, two guys with gold chains and money, Black Mafia Family so it had to be about drug traffic, violence, money and ambition. I'm a fool for this type of stories but I know the consequences of this game, unfortunately saw two friends involve deep on this world, everyone starts just for the money but its so much different, Violence is king, money is just the reward for the most ambitious, smart and stronger but everyone think at first they can just do a certain amount of money and get out or just do enough money to live well, its much worst than that and on this Tv series the director and writer explains just the surface of what it means to start from the bottom and climb to the top, once you get to the top then you need to know how to rule and how to defend your territory because someone else will try to take everything from you.
This TV series not only talks about drugs and violence but it also shows what a family can do to stay together during good and bad times even if they had to lie or risk their own life for their love ones

If you are a fan of crime dramas, drug trafficking, then the TV series BMF (Black Mafia Family) should be on your watch list. This suspenseful and full of action series is inspired by the true story of two brothers, Demetrius "Big Meech'' Flenory and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory, who went up in the drug world as the leaders of the notorious BMF gang.
The series premiered on Starz in September 2021, is a collaboration between rapper and executive producer 50 Cent and writer and executive producer Randy Huggins. The show has a very talented cast, including Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Big Meech and Da'Vinchi as Southwest T, and at first started a bit slow, soft, consider part of the cast haven't had the opportunity to be the main figure on high score TV series but do have a lot of talent, so far in a season two BMF score is 7.5 on IMDB.com.
One of the most striking things about BMF is the attention to detail in the Flenory brothers' moving up in the chain of power. The show captures the culture of the late 80s and early 90s, from fashion to music to politics. It also does a great job at describing the surface of drug trade, including the rivalries and alliances between different gangs and the corrupt officials who turn a blind eye to their illegal activities.
But BMF is not just a show about drugs and violence. At its core, it is a story about family, loyalty, and the lengths that people will go to protect those they love. The relationship between Big Meech and Southwest T is one of the show's most pronounced aspects. Despite their differences, the two brothers have a deep bond that is tested by their involvement in the drug trade and the constant threat of law enforcement.
The supporting cast is also impressive, with standout performances from actors like Snoop Dogg, who plays a local pastor, and La La Anthony, who plays Southwest T lover. The show also touches on important social issues, such as police brutality and racism, in a way that doesnt feels force and is still relevant.
Episode 1: See It... Touch It... Obtain It
On the first episode we see Big Meech coming back to the hood, when I started watching the show my first impression that he just got out of jail or has been out Detroit for some time.
Flenory brothers were still kids, his father works at the GM factory and they were broke. Meech and Tee were both very slick and smart, Meech has this love for money, a drive that push him go farther and want more, two kids with such talents were desperate to get out of the financial situation their family was in and help them back so since they were kids they were trying to make money.
They started first as "The 50 Boyz", that's funny since 50 Cent was producing, they went up real fast under the umbrella of Pat, their first drug supplier, they were reselling and their cut was not that big so at that time they had to fake it until they make it and in the world of drug trading being just that a seller is not that much money.
Its very obvious that they were making some money but not that I'm the Boss money just by looking at them and their crew, the first episode on this TV series different than others presents almost the entire cast of the first season right away, on the first twenty minutes we got the Flenory family, The 50 Boyz crew, their supplier, their rivals, the corrupt officer who helps them locally, Tee school partners, there is not that many missing from the first season. The first episode doesn't leave anything to imagination it brings their situation very well explain all the problems they facing at home and on the streets.
Their most fierce rival just arrive town without the Flenory brothers knowing, here comes Lamar Silas who just got out jail, he is a very ambitious men, aggressive and very very bad temper. He use to run Ecorse and wants everything he lost back, that includes money, power and his family.
In the meantime Meech and Tee problems at home start to get worst, their father always knew Meech was in the game and had no idea Tee too, his mother found a gun in their room so right away they though it was Meech so his father throws him out of the house, he had enough money to stand up by himself so he took off. First he visits his lover and to make it funny / ironic at the same time she use to be Lamar girl who sees them together at her place after he tries to visit her and his daughter.
Late 80s to ealry 90s rap was hard on the streets, you had all this MCs rapping about respect, money, fighting racism and this kind of music move young men like the Flenory bothers, unfortunately on the wrong direction, they trying to move up fast on the latter of drug traffic, they have a new spot but its not the hottest place to sell their dope, they name 50 Boyz comes because they sell $50 bags of crack but no body has that kind of cash. Its strange to me, as far as I know selling crack on those times for $50 that could be like $100 now days, so who has that much cash to buy a usually cheap drug that F up your brain real fast, they come with a strategy to promote their crack with the most known crack head so she spread the word and come up with a new batch to sell it on smaller bags, cheaper, more accessible to their current clients.
Its Pat birthday and the entire crew comes to pay their respect, The 50 Boyz were making good money with their new strategy and became Pat's number one resellers, on this party you will also see some other characters that will develop latter on the second season. Pat thought them the basics of the game but they want more, their new strategy help them selling a batch that's suppose to last for a month in a week so when they ask Pat for more he had to put them down, yes its better if they can sell more dope but selling too much at those prices can get someones attention and get them in trouble so when they try to get more dope from Pat he had to say no, at this point they were still reselling meaning that they pay full once they sell the batch.
Enters once again Meech ambision, "...they didnt give us our freedom or the right to vote...we have to fight for our independence" he was talking about been their own bosses, having their own supplier, here we have the classic combination of the muscle and the brains, they didnt want to be bosses they want to be the Kings of Detroit and at the moment there was nothing that was going to stop them.
BMF is not a TV series for kids, this is based on real life events, the main characters did exist in real life, the first episode as introduction was great, it shows us the topic at hand, the main and most secondary characters, there was not much action into this one but latter one it gets spicy.
