Ahead of the Season 1 finale, Syfy has renewed its hit original series The Ark for a second go-round. The renewal comes amid strong ratings for the series from Independence Day writer-producer Dean Devlin.

After a ruff start it seems The Ark survives season 1, at first I really thought it would die before the first season ended because it was not as bad but the cast had a hard time sometimes to look more natural at acting but after a few chapters the story began to shape, the conspiracy to develop also actors start doing better at expressing themself, I find The Ark an entertaining series but not a AAA series as lets say for example The Mandalorian, yes those are two different worlds and the comparison might not be fair but The Ark is not as good as Rabbit Hole. On both comparison I'm mainly talking about the story and the actors is a plus but the story of The Ark is not that entertaining by itself, is the cast that brings it to life and make it look interesting.
Based on data provided by Tvseriesfinale.com The Ark was averaging over 300kl viewers per. episode, this numbers are provided by The Nielsen Company, over time viewers start increasing sometimes going over 400k viewers. Also consider that SyFy is not the platform with the highest amount of viewers like Disney+ or Netflix, The Ark is currently streaming at Peacock that has some good series but same situation but that doesn't mean that there is an audience out there that may enjoy it.
Its said by SyFy that the Ark reach over 6.5 million users on the platform but the question is what are peoples opinion about it.
On IMDB season 2 has been enable after the announcement.
For example on previous image we can see how on IMDB how episodes started to get better rating, the highest up to 7.9, that's very positive but the question always is are those votes real??
On episode 7 it got 184 votes that gave it a 7.9 on average but when you click on the star only show the amount of people who vote and what was the score, there are no comments like when you vote for the series as a hole.
On IMDB the Ark got a 4.7 rating
I think Rotten Tomatoes divides their voting between those who pay for the site services and the rest, the audience, on average I think this score still represents a 4/10 .
Such low score could only be from people who saw the first three episodes, I had to go through that suffering too and then start enjoying more the series as it develops, grows and the cast started to get better. Im not praising the series but they did improve through time, thats probably episodes started to get better scores.
At least I can see some people at Rotten Tomatoes feel the same as I do about the series, at first was not so good but then as it develops and add more characters also we get to know more about the story then it gets interesting.
The entire theme of the series also doesnt help too much, there are several TV Series that did great at it but there are benchmarks that need to be met for example The 100 is such a good series that is hard for The Ark to be better, not impossible but sometimes budget could be a factor too.
Im still watching the first season and really wanted for it to get a second season, sometimes watching this low audience, low rating (at first) tv series pay off as they get better, I have mention it before I do it because some of them are rough diamonds that latter on become very good.
There is no release date for season two but it has been confirm that the cast will remain the same.
I think independent blogs makes a difference to really evaluate content, there are sites who are basically paid to give a good rating for example IMDB is very good as a data base but I don't trust it for ratings, you don't get as many comments when on Rotten Tomatoes you do get more comments after votes and the rating compare to comments usually make sense.
Given the way this show is set up, and Syfy’s record with space-bound series (The Expanse and Dark Matter to name a few) we predict that this will not be renewed for a second season

For example this comment from thereviewgeek.com, doing some research about The Ark season 2 found their post at the time that actually felt the same way as I did on the first three episodes and this is the true value, opinions that make sense and are not always on the same direction.
Here my first post about The Ark, episode one, a bit over two months ago, it was critic although I don't like to be a pessimist and just kill the series on the first three episodes, besides giving an opinion I might also change other peoples thoughts on the series and wouldn't want to kill it for them, there is an audience out there that might enjoy The Ark, it recently happen to me with SWARM, found it too gore at first but kept watching and started to like it.

I'm still on episode 8 and will continue to post my personal thoughts about the four episodes remaining for me, episode 12 of season 1 airs on April 19, I have high expectations for season 1 finale, the series still lack a touch when it comes to action scenes for example during fights.
I give it a 6.5/10 to be fair for the first 8 episodes I have watch and hope they don't make me lower it, so far it has become better and better from where it started two months ago.
