With only two episodes left on season 3 here we have the first kinda slow episode, there was a bit more talk between the droid problem and how Bo-Katan would become the leader of her ex-crew again, a group of Mandalorian that are now mercenaries, local to anyone who has enough credits.
There is one event that leaves me to think if in the future Mandalorians will face the Quarren or the Squids or both, at the beginning of the episode Mandalorians lead by Axe Woves retrieve the son of a Mon Calamari Viceroy, the Mon Calamari Prince, from Captain Shuggoth, if any of those two who are in love get enough power might declare war against Mandalorians.
On this episode we have Bo-Katan and Din Djarin acting as investigators and hunters of malfunctioning droids on Plazir-15 an independent world who hire Bo-Katan ex crew to protect them, both are kinda force but not force to this task, easy peasy for own two mandalorian heroes.
Bo-Katan, Din Djarin and Grogu set course to find Bo-Katan ex Mandalorian crew, while she was their leader they gather quite a nice fleet, they arrive to planet Plazir-15 who is an independent world out of the New Republic, they are pacifists with a droid problem, their leaders The Duchess and Captain Bombardier cant deal with it since guns or army are not aloud in the planet mainly because Bombardier use to be Imperial, but their democracy support everyone's culture as armor and guns are part of the Mandalorian culture, also I think they would not ask their current Mandalorian fleet for help because they are on a mercenaries status while Din Djarin is at the moment a true Mandalorian, there is a difference even though the fleet out side of the dome are ex Mandalorian, basically not under Creed right now.
I really enjoy the interaction between the Duchess and Captain Bombardier interaction with both Mandalorian and Grogu, humor that we don't often see on the series. I would like to mention that on this episodes I think Grogu make more noises than ever interacting with the Duchess, some say he said his first word last episode, I guess we will soon see him talking on season 4?? thats going to be interesting.
Bo-Katan and Din are task to locate the rouge droids and find out why they malfunctioning, at this point some of them have put humans at risk, all this droids were reprogram, some are decommission droids form the empire and are not suppose to act this way anymore, they are not war droids anymore.
Something that caught my attention was the Duchess cloth since she had some sort of hologram following here everywhere during this scene, something that could be easily recreated now days with AR and validated by NFT, another proof of "if its on tv they already doing it", augmented reality in my opinion will be adopted soon or latter, just as VR has been slowly adopted, is that type of tech that takes time to get out of fiction to reality.
Bo-Katan and Din Djarin are send to Commissioner Helgait and understand more what's going on, Commissioner Helgait is played by Christopher Lloyd, Mr. Emmett Brown 🤟, I wish he had more screen time but it was very brief on this episode, he explain the basics of the malfunction and has ""no idea"" why is this happening but doesn't seem to like the fact that without droids the planet would not survive, it comes with age to become allergic to technology, what new generation see as progress elder ones might see it as laziness, Helgait send both to talk with Ugnaughts, a proud raze of droid manufacturers, best of the best when it comes to creating droids.
Bo-Katan approach the Ugnaughts as if they were lower rank employees on the planet but they are really the reason why droids work, Ugnaughts are perfectionist at their work and telling them their droids are malfunctioning is an insult, she failed to communicate with them as they ignore her. On the other hand Din Djarin had a Ugnaughts friends and knows part of their tradition and ways of communicating, Din ask them for help and the list of the rouge droids and they accep providing them with list and location of last droids malfunctioning.
They get to a line of ex war droids who are loading a ship with cargo, Din start to provoke them, pushing, kicking them, the droid in charge ask him to stop, until one of them react and punch him and runs away. The persecution is on, they go through part of the city after the droid that keeps throwing things at them, even what looks like a light post that then explodes until Din Djarin tackles the droid and Bo-Katan shoot it from behind and puts the droid down.
That looks like a heavy droid, unless its made of some light way material but for Din to tackle it he had to probably use his jet pack, the droid legs are skinny but they are strong, just trying to figure out how Din was able to tackle a droid that big.
Part of the droid program let them to recreate as they reason within that though they also need to spend time for themselves, there for things like droid bars exist.
The droid Din put down had a tag, in lame words a presentation card, from a droid bar with an address to a bar. On this droid bar they start to ask questions to the bartender who is willing to help but do not appreciate Din aggressive approach, but Din doesnt like battle droids and regular droids still not his favorite since battle droids kill his family.
The bartender droid explain them that all droids are serve Nepenthe, an oil that keeps them lubricated and contain sub particle that reprogram them as the main frame software change, seem that all rouge droid had the same batch of Nepenthe.
After all its a fiction story in space, "dead" droids are kept just as humans when they go to the morgue, figure out. I think this is in a short term when they are under investigation, a way to store them before they get scrapped.
The oil in the droid is analyze by a lab tech who finds out that there were nano droids inside him who most likely reprogram the droid to malfunction and misbehave as they were doing but what got them to the creator of this plan was the chain code of this nano droids, with it they could track who bought this nano droids and introduce them to the planet, it has to be someone within the government as nothing enter the dome without authorization from some sort of high rank command.
Dr Brown was stuck in the past 😁. It was Commissioner Helgait who brought in the droid illegally trying to sabotage the droids that were acquired from the empire, he doesnt like Captain Bombardier, Helgait serve the planet and the royal family for a very very long time and will now will remain arrested until who knows.
After Din and Bo-Katan solve the droid problem in the dome, they were given the keys of Plazir and authorize to visit the area were the Mandalorian are, her ex fleet soon to be hers again, this was obvious.
Din and Bo-Katan arrive and she challenge Axe Woves to combat, the winner keeps the fleet, at the moment Axe was acting as captain in command.
He gave Bo-Katan a good fight, in good old Mandalorian fashion fight after a lot of kicking, punching, jetpacking and tackling she defeat Axe Woves and reclaim the fleet as her.
Din was just looking all this time, he knew she had to win by her own merits. Axe tells her she could only lead if she had the dark blade, the dark saber that Din has who they dont recognize as Mandalorian.
Bo-Katan tells them she wont spill any more Mandalorian blood, they have to work together to retake Mandalore, Mandalorian are stronger together.
Din decides to give her the blade but he cant, it was not meant to be given but earn in combat, then he raise the case that she rescue him on Mandalore from someone who beat him there for she can beat him and the blade belongs to her. He is basically transferring the blade by order of battle defeats, its a weird logic because in reality she has to beat him in combat but I get that they both are trying to unite Mandalorians so its on their interest for her to have the blade if that's what it takes, besides Din couldn't handle it properly and is not interested in leading them.
Axe and Bo-Katan fight was very good I really enjoy that scene, at the end all agree she should be the one wielding the dark blade and lead the Mandalorians to retake their home planet.
From my perspective season three has been great, again Im not a Star Wars geek and this tv series have got me into wanting to know more about it, Im sure there are probably scenes that might not follow the story word by word.
I have my doubts at some point Bo-Katan would lead them again, on the first episodes of season three we see her laying on her castle without any motivation to lead them, Din already had the blade and was more into been a Mandalorian. I hope in the next two episodes we can see all Mandalorians from Bo-Katan fleet and the Armorer tribe together, also keep in mind they now have land on planet Nevarro thats two planets where they are welcome counting Plazir-15.
