Still really mad about a recent heartbreak, Dineo runs into a supposedly perfect man - the man of her dreams but it turns out he might not be the one to take Dineo out of singlehood. With the help of her best friend, she figures out her love life and rediscovers herself in the process.
The Plot
Dineo is a social media expert who loves putting her personal life on social media. It backfires when she's at the office and gets a delivery from her partner thinking it's a getaway invite. While on live-stream, she finds out he sent back all her stuff and Dineo feels humiliated and heartbroken.
Her best friend Noni urges her to enjoy her single life and not run into a relationship but Dineo soon after gets a rebound guy who she hounds seriously for a relationship. Being her ever curious stalker self, she finds out Lunga is not only cheating but infact getting married to someone else.
Dineo is once again heartbroken and even feels worse when she notices Noni is letting her tough girl guard down and seeing someone. She then reevaluates her life and figures it isn't so bad being single. Lunga later realizes he is in love with her at this point which puts her again in a tight corner.
Will she go back to being in a relationship or will she accept that she doesn't have to be in one to feel complete?
My Take
It took me hearing the actors speak to know it was a South African movie. The whole setting had this Black - BET vibe to it that it looked too Hollywood. The plot also was very Hollywood and the characters sounded- unreal. It was all too polished; the people, houses, extras - very unrealistic.
I also found it cringe that a grown woman would care so much about 'likes' on social media, loving just the idea of being in a relationship and not the person she's in a relationship with. Her friend Noni, the typical fat friend that doesn't give a care in the world falling in love was another cringe part of the movie.
This is meant to be a romantic comedy but there was nothing romantic about the overly rehearsed looking scenes and the comedy was wacky-tacky.
The almost 2 hours movie felt way longer than that because for the most part, Dineo wasn't seriously single. The movie was so superficial that even Dineo rediscovering herself didn't feel genuine enough.
I don't recommend this movie because I can bet you you've seen a thousand movies with this same plot before. It's no different or even worse than what you've seen.
