Greetings folks!
What is original? I know you have the answer. Today, I want to think it in a different way.
General understanding of our perception is based on the sense we use to develop any idea. Perception depends on how certain things would have been understood or was intended to be understood at the time. But when we refer to the original, we just point the primary notion or idea of that certain thing or notion. Have you heard the expression of copy of the original! or original copy of something!.
I know it’s confusing. The key points are exploring different perspectives and domains and examining them with our prior knowledge and experiences. Breaking away the conventional thinking can lead to originals in many cases. The idea of originality can vary across cultures and time periods. You can relate a number of things which were considered original in one context and may not be seen the same as you see it now.
A great philosopher Plato observes that everything is an imperfect imitation or representation of a certain kind of form by which we perceive knowledge and the idea of that thing. Many of you have already seen the famous painting called Monalisa! over the internet. We have seen it through videos, HD images, pictures, selfies, mobile camera clicks and so on. Tell me my friend; can we call all of them as original. Certainly not!
They are just the copy of the original painting we saw. Standing before it and being lost into imagination is the most significant view of it. Every time we pass moments; and uncountable events are jostling around the globe. Chaplin once said that if we see life from a distance we see it as a comedy but if we give it a closer look we find the true tragedy in it. So, original ideas can differ from the perspective we are encountering it with.
We have to consider certain psychological and cultural factors that influence individuals' preference for originality. It has a number of active factors. The idea of the original has a great impact on the evaluation of creative works. Trillions of contents are produced everyday on the internet. How many of them are original? Original! There is the thing called intertextuality and collective notion of shared knowledge which plays a vital role creating our journey of creating perception.
Throughout the internet it is an important thing to be discussed. As a content creator I respect and wholeheartedly accept anything that is original. Alongside that, I also appreciate comments, interpretations, criticisms and analysis that provides us a true understanding of a certain notion.
Thank you for your time. Feel free to drop your original comments below.... : )
