Today is Good Friday.
A common question is, "Why is it called 'good Friday if it commemorates the day Jesus died?"
This can be a confusing name because it does sound unintuituve. But, remember Jesus's mission:
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:17

Dying on the cross to pay for our sins is exactly what Jesus came to Earth to do. Although we're saddened that Christ was forced to suffer for our sins, we're overjoyed that he did. His last words on the cross were, "It is finished." Then he died.
But, three days later to rose from death as the Victor over sins. Through him, we are saved.
That's good news.
