“All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets.”
S. Matthew 7:12 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/mat.7.12.RV1895
Today’s verse is one of those that are accepted around the world. Many people know this verse but don’t even know where it came from. Which makes it interesting when someone quotes it and you say, “Book of Matthew-Jesus Christ. “. Then they look at you like your answered a final jeopardy question.
There is so much to say about the Wisedom of this verse and how it did away with the silver rule and the eye for an eye rule.
Te Golden Rules pushes us as Christians to go the extra 9 yards. We don’t just do what we need to do and that’s it. We should do what we know we should do and continue to give with the virtues that the Lord demonstrated to us.
Recently, my mother went to Jerusalem with her church group. On the last day, her leader was the target of a thief. He or she broke into his hotel room and took everything except for the suitcase.
When he met up with everyone before leaving for the airport, he joked, i have lots of extra room in my suitcase if you need to put something. He explained that everything he had except for his priestly clothes were taken.
When the group was reacting, he said. They target priests and spiritual leaders because they know they are forgiven. I would have gladly given it to them if they would have asked.
He had his passport and enough clothes to get him back to the US.
Is it easy to be a follower of Christ? Depends how much your give to Him and love Him. This incident didn’t phase the priest. It just made him more grateful.
