I dunno but Spanish is turning out to be quite different than what I'm used to... There are terms used that my English soaked brain could not understand. π
Few days ago I seached for Spanish-English learning groups so I have other people like me to talk to... I got in a few then suddenly I got invited to a community group chat. Huh. Ok, I just thought nothing of it and muted it.
And then in another social media site I read a short part of a Spanish news article. Oh my, apparently a known artist in Dominican Republic died on Thursday. This was the first time I saw the words artista plΓ‘stico, which the person was. I'm like, what's that???
Did a few quick searches and every search result translation came up with plastic as meaning for plΓ‘stico. Well obviously it shouldn't mean the same thing when it goes together with artista, right?
I got more curious when I found an online dictionary where it says it means visual arts. Huh. Doesn't make sense at all.
Curiosity got the better of me. Suddenly I had a reason to use the group chat. π I asked people in the group on why visual arts is translated to artista plΓ‘stico. Unfortunately someone just gave me this site. I used the site translator tool and this is what it says:

But then that makes this wrong:

Or does it make both right? For now, I have no idea. π Obviously I'm confused. My bilingual mind is getting boggled by this other foreign language. π΅ I dunno how polyglots handle it. Haha. Well I do know another local language/dialect but surprisingly English or that one didn't bother me at all.
I guess my way of thinking is quite different now. Why am I more inquisitive as an adult instead of when I was a kid learning a new language? π I'm giving myself a harder time to learn something. π
Ah life. I think it will really take me long to learn because of lack of actual exposure to the language. π At least I'm trying, right? π
