15 students at Sultanah Nahrasiyah State Islamic University (UIN) Lhokseumawe, Aceh, Indonesia, who were affected by the floods received aid from the Lhokseumawe City Branch of Bank Muamalat Indonesia. The aid distribution took place in the campus's Rectorate Office on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Branch Manager of Bank Muamalat Lhokseumawe Branch Office, M. Reza Anrycco, explained that the aid was provided as part of a recovery support program for flood and landslide victims, particularly for students directly affected.
"The 15 students at UIN Sultanah Nahrasiyah Lhokseumawe who were severely affected by the floods received Rp 3 million each to support their studies," he said.
The aid distribution was also attended by the Rector of Sultanah Nahrasiyah State Islamic University Lhokseumawe, Prof. Dr. Danial, M.Ag., accompanied by campus leaders and representatives from Bank Muamalat Branch Office, Lhokseumawe.
In his remarks, Prof. Danial expressed his appreciation for the support shown to students facing difficult circumstances following the disaster. "Thank you to Bank Muamalat. This assistance means a lot to them in continuing their education under difficult circumstances," he said.
He added that this support is not solely measured by the amount of assistance, but rather by the care and empathy shown to the students.
"We don't look at the amount, but rather the attention and concern from Bank Muamalat for our students. This is a very important form of moral support for them," he added.
Through this assistance, it is hoped that students affected by the flood can focus on continuing their studies without being burdened by economic hardship caused by the disaster. This assistance also demonstrates the synergy between the two Islamic financial institutions and universities in supporting the sustainability of education for the community.
The Sumatra floods that struck at the end of 2025 claimed more than 1,200 lives and tens of thousands more are still living in refugee camps.[]
