The Technical Implementation Unit for Language, Public Relations, and Publishing (UPT BKP) of Malikussaleh University signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Implementation Arrangement (IA) with the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of North Sumatra (FIB USU). The event took place in the FIB USU Meeting Room in Medan on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Also present at the event were the Dean of FIB USU, Prof. T Thyrhaya Zein; Vice Dean I, Prof. Mauly Purba; Head of Administration (KTU) Benny Wardhana, SH; heads and secretaries of study programs within FIB USU; and staff.
Meanwhile, from Malikussaleh University, the Head of UPT BKP, Dr. Teuku Kemal Fasya; UPT BKP staff members Ahmad Al Bastin and Faizul Aulia; and the Principal of MAN 2 Medan, Dr. Wuri Tamtama Abdi.
The MoA and IA were signed by the Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) BKP Unimal, Dr. Teuku Kemal Fasya, and the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at USU, Prof. T. Thyrhaya Zein, who was also accompanied by Prof. Mauly Purba.
In his remarks, Prof. Thyrhaya stated that this collaboration is a strategic step in strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, including in education, research, and community service.
He added that the language, public relations, and publishing units play a crucial role in supporting the academic ecosystem. "These roles include improving linguistic and academic competencies, accelerating information dissemination, building the institution's image, and publishing lecturers' scientific works to provide broad benefits to the community," he explained.
He also expressed his hope that this collaboration would be sustainable and synergistic across study programs and institutions.
"In the context of linguistics, we can learn from each other, for example through language training. The same applies in the areas of public relations and publication, and collaboration between lecturers at FIB USU and Malikussaleh University in the publication of scientific works can be established," he said.
He also hopes that this collaboration can be implemented through various concrete agendas in the future.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT BKP) at Malikussaleh University, Dr. Teuku Kemal Fasya, stated that the MoA and IA involve 15 social and humanities study programs at Malikussaleh University and 15 study programs at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at USU.
"The focus of this collaboration is strengthening the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes teaching, research, and community service," he said.
Kemal added that one form of implementation of this collaboration is research collaboration, both at the national and international levels. According to him, this collaboration also has a positive impact on the institution, particularly in improving accreditation and strengthening lecturers' academic portfolios, including in applications for professorships.
"Furthermore, research grant opportunities, such as those offered through the BIMA program from the Ministry of Education and Technology, can also be utilized collaboratively," he concluded.[]
