Children with autistic disorder are children with incomparable intelligence, they only need stimuli that help reinforce that intelligence that they already maintain and that they need to let out, to increase it and feel better about themselves every day.
The stimulation process should be with tools that children like, these tools can be games, speech stimuli, pleasant sounds, because we must remember that children with autism are not in a certain sense like other children who do not maintain the condition of autism; These children require strategies that guide them to coordination, rather than coordination, to attention, to help them exercise actions that make them feel good when they are carried out completely, without interruptions.
Strategies to help stimulate speech for children with autism
Children with autism spectrum condition are very egocentric with their games, they are always theirs, that is, they do not want to have contact with others. It has to do with what I should do, I don't need to be in contact with others. But it is necessary to stimulate the child in language, in a language that allows him to face others, because it is fair and necessary. According to strategies that are repetitive, but not overwhelming, that are carried out, for example, on intermediate days, to change the dynamics, but so that these children can remember them and when they try again, by themselves it is because they already have the notion and they act themselves; They develop their skills according to the attention they pay to the learning provided.
Language stimulation game, find the correct figure.
Children look for ways to put the pieces where they belong, their attention is focused on that strategic game, but at the same time that they do, the educator or representative must be there, attentive, and say:
- This piece is green.
- This figure is the heart.
It is an example of how language could be working with these didactic and stimulating language games, the child responds and learns.
With this activity, we particularly want to achieve:
- Eye contact. Eye contact is important, it is only necessary to make the child see the pieces, and therefore he will want to put them in the right place, this happens when he practices and when he pays attention.
Matching the letter with the figure and they unite like a puzzle game. It is interesting how you learn if you pay the right attention.
Language flows, because you are not only locating it by pairs of similarities and to which it corresponds, the child is motivated, to pronounce, to understand why each piece belongs to its pair, in the relationship of letters and/or vowels for each object, animal, among others.
Observation: The adult must always, as far as possible, maintain control of the situation and make the child understand.
That is, in the game, the adult begins and shows the figures to the child, in this case so that his gaze is fixed on what is taught, he must do it close to the eyes, so that the child receives the message.
Children want to act on their own and grab the pieces in their own way, we must teach them to keep control of their actions, but this is little by little.
For children who are not very verbal, we must first teach them with hand signals so that they understand when they say "give me" or "have this is for you".
The idea of any activity to stimulate not only the language but any other priority or important factor in the child, is to always do it slowly and with patience, both for the child and for the adult.
It is a process in which the child can really find it difficult to try to give some sign, some emulation of the language, but in one way or another it will, because it is being stimulated in various ways for correct learning.
