Getting a decent living and education is the right of all children, but what about children who live in remote forests and are not familiar with the outside world, for us to know together in Indonesia alone there are approximately 10 interior tribes who have not interacted with the outside world. and still living in the wild, what will happen to their children?
Actually, there are still many interior tribes in Indonesia that are still isolated, does the government turn a blind eye to these tribes, We need to know that the government has never ignored the existence of these tribes, but they themselves reject outside influences.
They are so persistent in defending their traditions from the influence of modernization with the aim that their traditions can be maintained.
How do tribal children get education?
Getting a formal education like children in general who study in schools that have rooms or classes is indeed impossible because access to places for remote tribes is difficult to reach, let alone to build classroom buildings, they still live on the move,or no maden.
One of my colleagues who works as a teacher once shared his experience with me, when a few years ago he felt called to his heart to impart knowledge to tribal children.
It turns out that it is not easy for them to want to learn and want to hear stories from people who come from outside, these children in their daily lives only think about how to get food from nature.
Because of this he also had a tactic to distribute food first to these children so that they would follow his words, and the method he used worked, slowly but surely the children had started to follow the lessons he gave.
The uniqueness of those of us who teach non-formal education for inland tribes is the cultural factor, children from rural tribes on average have never seen tables and chairs, this makes them uncomfortable in learning.
Therefore, as teachers, we must be able to adapt to the culture of the local community, so we make classes in the wild using mats, so they can sit and also lie down, the important thing is that they can be comfortable in the learning process.
The first learning program is to focus more on reading and writing, if they can read it will be easier to give them an understanding of the outside world through various books.
And for now, the government and also the foundation from medco have started to support what my friend is doing, in helping children from remote tribes to be able to study like other children in general.
"Salute and proud to the teachers who work wholeheartedly for tribal children"
