Today has been a very interesting day. I've just been wondering if there's a profession as interesting as teaching? I am always very thankful for the kind of work I'm doing. Being in the educational sector keeps me on my toes... Yes, I can't rest because I feel I'm done with my education, I know I have to keep learning, studying, researching and improving on myself to be able to share it to the younger minds. So to all the dispensers of knowledge, I'm proud of you all and keep up with the good work.
Today in school we had a function called OPEN DAY. Open day is a day the school sets aside, invites the parents over to school to come and meet with the teachers of their wards, converse and get to know how the performances of their children are. They are equally allowed to make complains, air their views and give corrections where necessary. Parents equally gift the teachers of their wards things, could be money, food items or anything.
On today's open day, the school decided to spice it up a bit by making the pupils partake in a spelling competition. The competition took place between the lower primary and the senior primary, the junior secondary and the senior secondary.
It was quite interesting to see the pupils put in their best efforts to win. The spelling battle was so tensed that at the finals, there was a draw twice. The standard of criteria's had to be raised in order for a Victor to emerge. The pupils were asked to spell compulsorily by the use of syllables and they were to use the say-spell-say method else they would loose a point even if they spelt correctly.
The students performed excellently. At the end of the competition, the pupils were given writing materials to encourage them do better next time.
And certainly I was given some refreshments as the excellent time keeper😉 I had a fun day!
