Hi there. In this education post, I talk about school closures due to weather. There was a recent snow storm in the Toronto & surrounding area that affected schools, business and roads. The snowfall was really big to the point where schools were closed.
It is well known that Canadian winters are cold. We do get some days where the Winter weather is really bad. When it gets really bad, schools do close for the day if there is too much snow or if it gets to cold/dangerous out there.
Schools being closed for the day does delay things. A test scheduled on a snow day would be pushed back to the next day or a Monday after a weekend. Lessons would be postponed or teachers would have to cover more material in less time. A school trip could get delayed or even cancelled. Closures due to weather can be super disruptive.
For the students, they may enjoy a school closure. No need to wake up early for school. More free time is available to do homework, catch up on material or use the free time for leisure.
Parents may not like a no school day. Someone has to look after the kids as the parents are off to work.
