When people say "I wish I was a child again, life would be so easy for me having my parents take care of my every need." What they fail to factor in is the difficulty children have with communicating.
Children take so long to utter their first words. Which in actuality was an experiment for them involving cooing different syllables until it got their parent's attention.
A parent's attention by the way at this point in time is something the baby has resolved that it can't live without.
So it coos "ma!" The mother turns. The mother calls everyone that the baby said mummy, it registers in the babies brain like this, crying=attention but "ma"=attention >crying.
Now the problem comes up, how do I make that sound that had not just the giant milk machine's attention but even the one that likes to makes me laugh and has a fat head.
So it one day has a hang of some of those syllables. Then it can say a few impressive words like "hot" which it has intelligently deduced from adults conversing. Later it can say sentences like "my stomach is hungry."
Also notice how the moment they can string up sentences the first thing they want to communicate is their feelings.
Polite words like "good morning" no matter how many times you tell them to say it goes unheard. Good morning does not communicate how they feel and it does not get anyone's attention. How many times in your life have greeted someone and they did not answer you?
But you see "shut up!" It's the magic that makes everyone's head turn to their direction.
But communication is still not completely developed, for if it was, crying would not be necessary.
The difficulty in communicating doesn't come from the child alone, the parents patients also has a part to play. It requires patients and strength to maneuver a conversation with an illiterate especially one with delusions of grandeur.
So special shout-out goes to the parents who believe in communicating with words and not just the rod, because reliance on the rod alone will have you beating your child when you are impatient and weak.
