The country of Indonesia has so many ethnic groups with their inherent customs. It is from the tribe that it is not only the customs, but the culinary and language of the tribe. Everything is different, complementing the range of diversity and local wisdom in Indonesia, everything goes in harmony, respecting each other with all the differences that exist. No one protested, let alone complained about it to the authorities. The word kinship and mutual cooperation are still very attached if you live in Indonesia.
And today I will tell you how very beautiful and unique all the diversity that we have. One of the many customs that I will share with you is the customs of the Batak tribe about how they marry their children. Starting from the clothes, the arrangement of invitations and greetings as well as various dishes all have meaning, and not just dishes that can be eaten and enjoyed because of the taste. The meaning of this dish served from Batak customs means loyalty and glory, all of which are poured with food named Arsik Ikan Mas.
And in terms of welcoming there is usually a tradition that must be passed. Usually the woman's family will be greeted with a paving dance or a welcome dance before entering the building, this welcome dance is a typical Batak dance, each of which has its own meaning. And the family also started getting ready, the bride's parents stood at the front, while in the row behind her were the sister's clan. On their heads they carry containers woven with pandanus thorns. This basket is named Tandok. And in this tandok contains symbolic donations in the form of basic materials needed when later building a household.
It doesn't have to be all filled in. They can fill in only one type of staple, such as rice, spices, cooking oil, sugar, other crops or give money. All the contents of the Tandok will be collected by the traditional elders of their clan in the place that has been provided. If the content in the Tandok is money, the money will be recorded according to the nominal and name of the giver of the prize.
After the Tandok handover ceremony is over, the bride and groom will carry out a traditional Batak ceremony in the form of a pig's head handover as a form of respect. And the dishes there are also pork food. However, because I am a Muslim, I cannot enter that place. However, don't worry if you are Muslim or for those of you who are allergic to pork, because the building has 2 floors. One is special for traditional events and one floor above is made for a national event with a rice box dish with beef and other complementary menus.
Party decorations on the second floor of this building were also made nationalist. And when we enter the building, we will be greeted by the receptionists and we will be given souvenirs to keep in mind. Not only that. There is also a music stage provided here if you want to donate your golden voice. The bridal couple who have finished in Adati will come upstairs to welcome the guests. And chat for a while then go back down to the 1st floor to follow other customs... that was a traditional Batak wedding. I hope you will add your references about the diversity that exists in Indonesia. Warm greetings to all of us.
