Strategies to develop creativity in children.
To stimulate creativity in children we can support ourselves with the following tools: painting, drawing, writing, creating, manufacturing, didactic games, contact with nature and all those activities that help children develop their analytical skills and solve your own problems.
It is important that the teacher along with children, perform activities where you can analyze the characteristics or parts of an object, preferably those things that have different shapes and colors, can be a basket of fruits, a game with pieces with trigonometric forms or plan a trip to a natural park.
The important thing is that children can express themselves before the teacher's questions, we are sure that many answers and questions will come from the children, perhaps some with coherent meaning and others not, but all are important for learning.
Remember that children have the ability to devise many answers to a question, which is known as: divergent thinking.
Here are the ways to encourage creativity in children:
- We must bear in mind that all children since they are born have the gift of creativity, it is only necessary to find the right tools and perform some practices so that they can develop their creative capacity.
- It is important that the teacher analyze together with the children the characteristics of an object and ask a series of questions that encourage the best answers. It is preferable to ask questions that do not have closed answers, "yes" or "no". Instead, ask open-ended questions, such as "What would happen if ....?" Or "What would you do if ...?", This type of question would force the child to give his answer with several words.
- The teacher should encourage the exchange of ideas among children; to do this, he must coordinate activities where everyone as a team carries out a work; example: Helping to decorate the classroom, preparing the billboard, the teacher can also place some figures on the board, so that the children try to draw them.
- Recommendations to parents: It is recommended that children can freely manage the time and resources necessary to create, direct, plan and execute their own work freely.
- As parents, we must keep in mind that our role is to provide the child with space, materials, time and time to play and freely exercise their creativity, it is important to give the child some autonomy that will help him to be independent to solve his own problems.
