Money gained through unfair and dishonest means is often called "ill-gotten" because it is not based on a solid, legitimate foundation. As the saying goes, "easy come, easy go" and this wealth can disappear in an instant through legal penalties, exposure, or mismanagement. The unethical practices can lead to devastating consequences. These include crippling financial penalties, frozen accounts, and potential bankruptcy. Highlighting the same cause Sanskrit has said following words ;
अर्थोSप्यनर्थेन चेत्साध्यः का वार्ता धर्मकामयोः |
अर्थः सर्वजगन्मूलः अनर्थोSर्थविपर्ययः||
Arthopyanarthena chetsaadhyayah kaa vaartaa dharmakaamayoh .
Arthah sarvajaganmoolah anarthorthaviparyayah.
Arthopyanarthena = artho + api + anarthena.
Artho = wealth, finance.
Api = even.
Anarthena = through unethical means. Chetsaadhyayah = chet + saadhyah.
Chet = if.
Saadhyah = acquired,
Kaa = what ?
Vaartaa = talk, say.
Dharma = Religion
Kaamayo = sensuality.
Sarvajaganmoolah = Sarva + jagat + moolah.
Sarva = entire.
jagat = world.
Moolah = root.
Anarthorthaviparyayah = anartho + artha + viparyayah.
Anartho = calamity.
Viparyayah = crisis.
i.e. If wealth and property are accumulated through unfair means, then what is the use of discussing religion and work? Because money is the root cause of all activities in this world, thus money obtained through unfair means only brings disaster in the world.
In this proverb it has been sarcastically said that earning money by using unfair means leads to economic crisis in most of the countries as happened in the world in the year 2007 referring to the the Big Wall Street Crash. This is why ethical way of earning money is best. The ethical foundation promotes long-term profitability for businesses and individuals, contributing to overall societal well-being rather than relying on exploitative practices for short-term gain.
The idiom "easy come, easy go" is relevant in life by highlighting that things acquired without much effort are often lost as quickly as they were gained, and that a person who obtains something easily may not value or try to keep it.
