People often look for skill in life. Having skills in life allows people to adapt to different situation. Skills empower individuals to perform tasks, achieve goals, and contribute to society, ultimately leading to personal growth and improved well-being. However there is a drawbacks which often go unnoticed. The drawbacks is nicely put up in following Sanskrit words :
गुणवन्त: क्लिश्यन्ते प्रायेण भवन्ति निर्गुणाः सुखिनः |
बन्धनमायान्ति शुका यथेष्टसंचारिणः काकाः ||
Gunawantah klishyante praayena bhawanti nirgunaah sukhinah
Bandhanmaayaanti shukaa yatheshta sanchaarinah kaakaah
Gunwanta = persons having skills.
Klishyante = face hardships
Praayena = in general
Nirgunaah = not having skills.
Bandhan = bondage
Shuka = parrot
Yatheshta = much
Sancharinah = move, roam.
Kaak = crow.
i.e. In general skillful persons face hardships, whereas those who do not have any skill remain happy and carefree e.g.parrots are trapped and kept in cages (because of their special faculty of imitating human voice) and crows roam freely in the sky.
A skillful life and a carefree life are different in their focus and approach to challenges. A skillful life emphasizes mastery and expertise in a particular area, often requiring effort, practice, and a mindful approach to challenges. It's about developing capabilities and achieving excellence in a specific domain. On the other hand, a carefree life is characterized by a lighthearted and relaxed attitude, minimizing worries and responsibilities. It's about enjoying the present moment without excessive stress or concern for future outcomes.
People always look put for skills in life, but persuit they have to give up the carefree attitude and stay happy with whatever condition they were are.
