Hello teachers, students, and researchers, I am here again today, Tuesday, 14th April, 2020, to share a guide on how to measure "Self–Esteem of Physically Challenged Students relative to their Clothing Choice" through research.
Physically challenged persons face lots of challenges especially from non-disabled individuals who tend to have negative behaviour towards them. Some of the challenges include social neglects and unreasonable dislike within the society they find themselves. This gets more worsened in schools which was supposed to be a collaboration centre for all learners irrespective of personal affiliations.
One of the ways in which the physically challenged persons tend to be carried along I when they are able to dress in line with trends, but would their disabled parts allow?
In every stage of man’s life cycle, there is always a need for clothing article. From creation, man in his life cycle could not do without clothing. Clothing designers devote a lot of their time and energy in understanding the unique needs of each stage in the life cycle, so that clothes can be designed to meet these needs of individuals at different stages of life cycle.
The stages include: infants, early school going, teenagers, college going students, adolescent, adult, elderly, pregnant women and physically disabled persons. The physically challenged are among the persons who need clothing. Physically challenged persons are found in all ages, gender shapes and sizes and their clothing needs are also different. Fortunately many of their clothing options are designed with more focus on functionality, style and fashionability.
The presence of clothing consumers with varied clothing needs has become more prevalent in social and occupational life which has increased attention for the clothing needs of consumers to cover those with disabilities.
Self-Esteem refers to how much you value yourself. A number of different factors can impact self-esteem, including how we compare ourselves to others and how others respond to us. When people respond positively to our behavior, we are more likely to develop positive self-esteem. When we compare ourselves to others and find ourselves lacking, it can have a negative impact on our self-esteem. Self-esteem is a disposition that a person has which represent their judgment of their own worthiness.
Self-esteem is one personal attribute that would always be useful in discussing clothing choices because clothing has a way of boosting or derailing one's self esteem.
It is against this background that related studies to measure the Self–Esteem of Physically Challenged Students relative to their Clothing Choice becomes important.
I have put in over seven years into educational researches, and I have discovered that it is a popular problem among research students to be able to construct their instruments for collection of data even when this is a major component for the success of the research. In the coming days, I would be sharing more research guides and tips for students and teachers. This is my way of supporting the @Steemiteducation and the #Education-Hive community.
I decided to put below the following guide questions for a researcher who is interested in working on a topic related to "Self–Esteem of Physically Challenged Students relative to their Clothing Choice".
