Mr. Akamu and his family were preparing for Sunday service when his phone rang. His wife Mrs Tolu Akamu was a mother of three; two boys and a girl whose ages was 4, 3 and 1 year old respectively.
While speaking over the phone, Akamu argued that today was Sunday and it would not be ideal for him to go anywhere else than the church which he was preparing for. He stayed a bit longer on the phone and after they had reached a deuce, he hung-up the call and looked at his wife who was already dressed up and waiting for him to drive them to the church as usual.
'Honey, I am really sorry, I would not be able to take you people to church, I have to go and take quotation of a job that I have been directed, that was the contractor on the phone. Mrs Tolu's pleas fell on deaf ears as Akamu hd already made up his mind to go and take the quotation of the aluminum windows which he was asked to install in Edet's uncompleted house. Please dear I am really sorry for this change in plan. I promise that I will drive straight back to church while I return; little did he nor his family knew however that the journey was the one with no return.
Akamu zoomed off and left his family at home in the care of his wife who was contemplating how she would be able to take the three children in a public transportation. The stress is not worth it, besides she's really been used to the husbands car and with the members of the family as they trekked out to the road to pick an okada man - motor bike.
Akamu drove at a speed or 40km/h and in about thirty minutes he was at the location where the house was. The caller Mr Edet came out and received him to an uncompleted house. Complaining Akamu explained to the contractor that he would not stay longer than 10 minutes. Just as he brought put his tape to start taking down the measurements of the windows, he heard voices from outside the building ordering the inhabitant to freeze and put their hands at where they could find them.
The building was surrounded by the men of the Nigeria police who came on a tip off by a concerned individual that that building was a hideout for men of the underworld. The was a 10 minutes duel between the Police and the kidnappers whose hideout has been uncovered. Adamu shouted " I am innocent, I am innocent" But his cry fell on deaf ears as he was shot on the spot by Sergent Ibu. The corpse of the men of the underworld including the innocent Akamu were taken outside.
What an odd world.
