The stranger was very shocked and at same time tempted to steal especially when he looked at ripe bananas. "Those bananas look ripe", he said to himself. "No one is watching, so I will take one and help myself". He picked the banana and ate one, ate another and proceeded to eating the oranges. "It taste so sweet" He exclaimed and went ahead to eat yet another banana and oranges. While he threw the banana pile away, it fell on the ground close to where the was money.
"What am I seeing?" He asked himself in surprise, "this people must really be foolish" he added.
He looked to the right and left and saw nobody round the market. When he was convinced that there was no one, he hurriedly picked up the money and tucked it into his pocket not knowing that someone was watching from the nearby stall which was just opposite the man. The woman was really surprised to see such action because it was a strange one in the village.
She rushed off back to the village and reported the event that took place in the village market. The chief was very upset to hear about this ugly incident in the village. He wondered who may have gone to the village market to steal because it was really strange thing to happen. People in the village were very hardworking people and did not steal. Hence, it was really shocking to him that someone could tamper with the stuffs that were sold in the market and the money too.
"This is so strange" The chief reiterate and thought of what to do to uncover the thief. He immediately called on the village town-crier to go round the village and inform all the villagers to gather at his palace in the evening for an important information. The people were just wondering what may have happened that may have warranted such summon. Utang Idung went round beating his local gong at intervals in the junctions of the village to inform the villagers about the chief's summons.
All the community members were surprised and wondered what may have happened in the village that would cause the community to call for such an impromptu meeting.
