We speak of cancel culture today in specific ways yet it turns out it has been a tactic of Communist, Marxist, and Maoist regimes for some time. There are other examples of it going way back in history that have nothing to do with Communism but in the case of Communist governments it seems to be one of their go to tools.
It comes in the form of removing statues, books, and anything that might show history to be different than what the Marxist LEADERS/RULERS/AUTHORITARIANS/TYRANTS want history to show. The tactic is to erase anything that they can manage to erase if it is inconvenient to the desired narrative.
This is what they are doing with statues around the U.S. and likely in other countries today. They will claim it is for this or that reason yet that is always the excuse. In Russia when Lenin was at work creating the U.S.S.R. it was a class based divisionary tactic that was used as justification. That has never completely worked in the United States and other western nations.
They instead have found that race, sex, and an ever growing self segregating identity labels can be used to accomplish the same thing. They still throw in the class based division into that mix but it is just one of the rapidly growing ways people are choosing to self segregate. It is cancerous and rotting the very mental foundation of society. It is destructive and cannibalistic.
Today they will target some group or people that they deem a good target but this trend is so toxic that if there is no one to attack they will find targets within their own groups as they further self segregate.
As I think of this like an organism it is almost like an immune system going out of control and targeting one body part. When that body part is gone it starts to target itself and the body transforms into a pile of goo before your very eyes as all aspects of itself feed upon itself in this never ending quest to seek things to be offended by which must be destroyed.
We have been living through this in recent and present history. If you have been paying attention at all you undoubtedly will think of some examples whether you want to or not.
This is not a new thing...
The Cancel Culture of Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin was known for having people airbrush people out of photos with him as they came into disfavor. He would have people change history. That person was not there, they don't exist, they were cancelled.

The Fascist Mussolini also did this
No Photoshop
These were done with air brushing techniques before Photoshop was remotely in existence.
Also for complete candor it was NOT just Communists and Fascists that did this. Other nations did it and other leaders. It was known to have been done in some occasions in some photos of Winston Churchil.
The main difference with these other cases is that they didn't seem to be removed later due to disfavor. Instead they were removed at the beginning to make the photo fit some propagandistic ideal.
Either way is not a good thing...
Cultural Marxism
Cultural Marxism is not simply about making photos show a false portrayal of history. They do the same thing with all aspects of society that they can. History should be shaped such that it only shows what they want the narrative to be. If they want a person to be the target of the people's anger they will hyper amplify the negatives about that person and attempt to bury the positives. If a leader in the movement was friends with someone that is now considered an enemy then they need to alter whatever they can find that mentions or shows that person was at one time considered a friend/ally.
There is the saying "Victors write the history" which is mostly true. The story about a battle will be predominantly from the perspective of the winner. Though not always. It certainly will be the loudest message. It is only some movements that seek to excise any narrative that is counter to their own.
The problem is that we need to know history. We don't need someone to edit it, conceal it, and in some cases fabricate it.
Cancel culture is a sickness.
It is one of the tools of Cultural Marxism...
Next Time
Next time you see a statue, mural, etc. that disgusts you try to keep your instinct to demand it be removed in check.
Instead think. Why do I dislike this?
Then think of it as a teaching moment. Can I use this to teach people?
It should be noted the co-founders of BLM are both avowed Communists.
You may do what some BLM people ripping down statues do today and say you don't need a statue to teach it.
This is false. Most people will never be reminded of that teaching moment again. The lessons will not be taught. It is out of sight and out of mind.
It is history that they want to pretend didn't happen.
It happened. We are not Ostriches. Pull your head out of the hole in the ground. Stop trying to hide under the covers.
The monsters in the closet may be real, or they may not. If they are real then hiding under the covers won't protect you or anyone.
EDIT: It has been a week since I wrote this. I just saw an article this morning on Zerohedge that echoes a lot of the things I spoke about in this post:
