Insane. The Chinese immigrants brought the Opium to Mexico. The main shipping was sending up up to America. Very low rates of addiction because all of this product was shipped up north to the United States.
American gangsters could not get ahead because local drug organizations were protected by local politicians and police and it was much more known that foreign criminals would get targeted over locals. So basically I'm off you got thrown out of Mexico and some pretty astounding news.

You got to realize that the entire eugenics push and the cleaning up of the human race played a big role in drug history especially with the push for amphetamines and methamphetamines.
