"If a person can speak about something which is classified, they put them in SAMs [Special Administrative Measure cell]. In that cell, they’re kept in solitary, so what happens is that they get so anxious to speak to another human being, they yell … So this hellish cacophony echoes up and down the hallway, I mean who is going to put up with that? The judge refused to allow Julian to sit in the body of the court, had to sit in this glass box, the glass box is constructed to have terrorists in there, Julian’s a 54-year-old publisher. He uses a pencil," John Shipton, Julian's father, said.
Growing pressure on British Home Secretary Priti Patel to not extradite Julian Asssange to the United States:
Earlier I wrote that the Council of Europe’s human rights commissioner urged Patel not to extradite him. Now Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo Pérez Esquive has written to Patel as well. "I join the growing collective concern about the violations of the human, civil and political rights of Mr. Julian Assange," the Argentine wrote. He called the extradition request "illegal and abusive" and said it imperiled press freedom and could bring "potentially fatal consequences" to Assange.

The UK National Union of Journalists spoke out as well: "It is clear that the US is trying to prosecute Assange for actions that are commonplace for journalists the world over".

It is now all up to Priti Patel, but the people seem united about this: Julian Assange needs to be set free. And even those who never liked his work, are now in agreement about that. It's taken too long, and journalism just isn't a crime.
